We were lucky to catch up with Kandi Hernandez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kandi , so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
If I ever feel like it’s just been work work work. I will get together with other dope creatives and create something fun some real art. Something artistically I’ve been wanting to create. I love to be able to create sometimes with friends. Inspires me to want to make more.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m a LA makeup artist and what I love about it is what I get to call my job. I love being able to create and do what I love. I love being able to say it’s my career and not just something I do on the side. I’ve taken my passion and turned it into my real career. I love that I’m consistently busy currently I’m preparing for BET awards at the end of the month.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
3 things that have been most impactful on my career is 1. drive/ambition how bad did I want this as my career how much work was I willing to put in. 2. Criticism if a client doesn’t like something I have learned to not let it affect me at first it did not gonna lie but I’ve learned it’s not what I like and what it’s what my client wants to be happy or feel their best you learn through their eyes 3 staying humble but yet confident I’ve never wanted to have the Hollywood cocky mentality I’ve learned to stay humble to be present and always treat everyone fairly I have God to thank for that
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Absolutely! I definitely would love to do more brand campaigns I have done brand shoots in the past with Kiss Products, Falscara, Joah beauty, NYX cosmetics, & some indie beauty brands but I would love to do a L’Oréal, ABH, Urban Decay, Too faced, or an another beauty brand that I love.
