Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kaneshia Henderson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Kaneshia, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
To be honest it was already there, because if I didn’t have the confidence and self-esteem, I wouldn’t have had the guts to start my own business. I knew that I was going to be good at what I do it was just a matter of planning and executing my ideas. I remember having a guest that spoke about her daughter working at a high-end restaurant, and she asked for a Lemon Drop. “This is really good” she said after taking her first sip. Even though a lemon drop is a simple martini with for 4 ingredients, to be compared to a Bartender (her daughter) that bartends at a high-end restaurant felt GREAT.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Hi readers!! I am a mobile bartender that serves the Houston area. We create custom cocktails as well as mocktails for any event. The Kay Bar started October 2021 after I was asked by my sister to bartend for my nephews 21st birthday party. I didn’t expect that one night to turn into something that I would want to do long term. I fell in love and was creating a website the next day!! Thank you sissy!!!
The most exciting and rewarding thing of being a mobile bartender is experiencing families come together to have a great time! I come from a small family background so it warms my heart to see all the big gatherings that takes place.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I would say being able to socially adapt to any environment is very important. I worked in retail in the past and in my current job I talk to people everyday. Creativity is a big one as well because it can be challenging especially if you’re an over thinker. Also knowing what different liquors, schnapps, and syrups taste like. In my opinion I don’t think you can build a perfect cocktail if you’re not familiar with different taste profiles.
How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?
Doing everything myself. I must think I’m super women hahahaha. I actually prefer it that way as of now but I do think down the line as my business grows I’m going to need to build a team. I do have a friend of mine who is actually a photographer and videographer that assist me from time to time. Thank you Jasmine!!
