Meet Kara Eddir

We were lucky to catch up with Kara Eddir recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Kara, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

Serving in the military was a pivotal experience in developing my confidence and self-esteem. During initial training, I was pushed beyond my limits both physically and mentally. Completing challenging tasks alongside my peers instilled a sense of accomplishment and camaraderie.

The structured environment also taught me discipline and resilience. Each success, no matter how small, built on the last and reinforced the belief that I could tackle difficult situations. Additionally, working as part of a team fostered mutual support and trust, showing me the value of relying on others while being reliable myself.

Leadership opportunities further contributed to my growth. Whether mentoring newer recruits or leading a small team, I learned to take responsibility, make decisions, and face the consequences. This not only boosted my confidence but also reinforced my self-worth, knowing that I had the ability to contribute positively to my unit.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

A little bit about what I do: I’m a DIY fanatic and that’s just how I started my business! I hand make body butters, whipped soaps, lip balm, you name it! What’s most exciting is when I get a new idea for a product and I bring my idea to life. I’m always working on new scents and new products so keep an eye out!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Patience, perseverance, and willing to take a risk. Running a business isn’t always glamorous, you have to be able to be consistent and know when certain products aren’t what your customers want (even if you love it). Your business doesn’t grow overnight, you have to keep putting in the work!

If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?

My biggest challenge with running my business currently is juggling my son and my business. I currently have a 7 month old baby and he keeps me on my toes. I don’t have nearly as much time to make products and pack orders as I used to.
