Meet Karè Chenell

We recently connected with Karè Chenell and have shared our conversation below.

Karè, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
It honestly took some time for me to develop my self confidence. I had to take time to learn myself and figure out what truly makes me happy. It’s easy to get caught up in what everyone else is doing around you and feel self doubt. But once you start to focus on yourself and your peace, everything else will fall into place.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My name is Karé Parks but as a creative I go by my first and middle name, Karè Chenell. Ever since I could remember I loved the arts and had a passion for music. This passion led me to dance and I fell in love with it instantly at such a young age. Growing up with a family that supported me and let me find my passions on my own allowed me to discover what I truly wanted to do. I’ve loved modeling as a kid and that love never went away. I’ve been dancing for over 12 years so modeling was a talent that I was too scared to purse but as I got older, the more I wanted to do it. I’ve been modeling for almost three years and it’s been an amazing journey. I’ve had the opportunity to walk in NYFW Fall 2023 and modeled for Wish ATL. As I continue on in my career as a creative the more I discover new interests and talents. I’m currently working on a cosmetic line that will be launching pretty soon.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three key things that were the most impactful in my journey were networking, constantly work on your craft, and yes, this is cliche but also be yourself. I was taught to never change for anything or anyone. When you stay true to yourself, everything that is meant for you will come. That would be my advice to new artists. Another piece of advice I will give is go out and network. Networking is essential as a creative. You never know who you could meet or what rooms you’re walking into. These two things helped me so much to keep myself motivated.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
I would say my biggest area of growth/improvement would be me being more diligent. I struggled with procrastination and that did nothing but hold me back. I was sick of having this feeling that I just couldn’t get to where I want to be, when that wasn’t the case. I had to learn that all it takes is to be diligent with the things you want. One of my favorite quotes is “He who labors diligently need never despair; for all things are accomplished by diligence and labor.” It’s easy to get stuck in the mindset that everything you want should just fall into place. But nothing will ever come without hard work and no matter how scary it is to accept, it is a fact. Consistency is key but consistency is NOTHING without being diligent.
