Meet Kareema Bee

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kareema Bee. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kareema below.

Hi Kareema , thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.

My optimism comes from the belief that in the unknown, there is something special and divine that has been beautifully handcrafted by God for me to discover. Every day that I wake up is a chance to start over. Every hour is an opportunity to decide to do something different. Every minute is a gift to be present. That’s what gives me optimism. I have been blessed to hear so many stories about how people overcome some of life’s biggest hurdles, and it gives me hope in my own life to know that if God can do it for them, certainly He can do it for me. It’s my faith. It’s the belief that after everything I have been through, there must be a reason for it all. As a storyteller, I also have no choice but to believe that at the end of anyone’s story, there can be a happy ending 🙂

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

As a writer and producer for over a decade, I have the privilege of telling many stories about, and for people from all over the world. The best part is that those stories exist across numerous platforms – in TV and Film – on Youtube, Tiktok and more. Perhaps, though my current work is probably the most intimate.

As a recipient of The BIG We Foundation’s SheStories grant, I was tasked with creating a project that was directly aligned with its core pillars of wellness equity and self-development for women and girls. The Self-Love Act is a docu-series that features introspective conversations while I also share my personal journey exploring life’s unpredictable transitions. The hope is that audiences can watch and offer the same grace, freedom, and affection that they would so easily give to their loved ones, counterparts, and even perfect strangers, but (also) now to themselves. In this series, self-love is not just a hashtag to add on a social media post, but rather an intentional practice with the goal to educate, encourage, and inspire a universal audience with tools and resources to support their own self-love journey.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I will forever be a student of life and be open to discovering something new. It speaks to my free spirit, though it might be contrary to what some may believe since I also know how to color within the lines. But I find the ability to be adaptable through newfound knowledge opens doors, and it has for me repeatedly during my career, and (also) in my personal life. That is why I do my best to show up, especially when there is a genuine invitation. You just never know. So I encourage anyone early in their journey to be the same. It is always great to have goals and a focus, but being nimble when the unexpected happens may catapult you somewhere great you never thought you’d land.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

I am always happy to collaborate with fellow filmmakers of any creative medium who think outside of the box and take pride in their skill. It’s great to learn from others and make a new project. Please reach out anytime at kareemabee.com.
