We recently connected with Karen Michelle and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Karen with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My work ethic stems from my family and their strong work habits. I actually started working at the age of 12, taking up various teenage jobs. When I turned 20, I took a significant step and opened my first retail location in business. Since then, I’ve dedicated over 33 years of my life to various businesses and I absolutely love it. The passion and commitment I have for my work have been shaped by the values instilled in me by my family.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
With over three decades of experience as a business owner, I’ve gained valuable insights and expertise in various aspects of entrepreneurship. However, in the past few years, I’ve been particularly focused on the insurance industry. This led me to establish Bound Insurance Agency. Our primary objective is to ensure that every client we serve receives the best possible insurance coverage. www.boundinsuranceagency.com
In addition to my day job I am the producer of the annual Love Your Body “LYB” Fashion Show and Shopping event in partnership with the non-profit Artists For Trauma. This is very dear to my heart and our past show in March 2023 was huge success. From shopping to an incredible runway with over 12 designers, a Getty Image red Carpet, and more. It was absolutely incredible.
We are looking forward to LYB 2024
My focus has been about women in business and in life. I am starting a series of Zoom meetings for women’s networking as well. The series starts June 27th
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back on my journey which is still a work in progress, one of the key lessons I’ve learned is to have no regrets and to view challenges as valuable learning experiences. Every obstacle I encountered provided an opportunity for growth and improvement. My advice to those on their own their journey is to have a similar mindset – learn from the challenges, and use that knowledge to move forward.
Another important aspect of my journey has been prioritizing my clients. Putting the needs of my clients first and treating everyone with the same level of respect and care has been a guiding principle throughout my career. It’s essential to build strong relationships with your clients, family, and friends. By focusing on client satisfaction, you will not only build a loyal customer base but also establish a reputation for excellence.
Lastly, if you love the journey you’re on, keep working hard and remain dedicated. It is your journey to create, and your passion and hard work will pay off. Enjoy the journey stay committed to your goals, and continue to do the best you can. Remember to maintain a strong work ethic and keep pushing forward. Your journey will be a success!
Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
I don’t feel overwhelmed that often because I just stay focused and take on one task at the time. I found by organizing myself , and having an incredible team to work with makes all the difference. Enjoy what you do is the best strategy to a successful journey.
