Hi Karl Max, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I grew up in a family where my father wasn’t present, and my mother, a hard worker, spent most of her time providing for us. Without role models and surrounded by bad influences, it was easy to feel lost. Deep down, though, I always knew I wanted more out of life.
In high school, I would share my dreams, and my friends would laugh at me. Their doubt, coupled with my low self-esteem, could have held me back. But instead, I used their negativity as fuel. Every time someone told me I couldn’t succeed, I worked harder, driven by a need to prove them wrong.
Over time, that drive sparked a belief in myself that I had potential—real potential. I stopped letting fear or doubt hold me back and began chasing every idea that came to mind. I was hungry for success, eager to turn my dreams into reality.
It wasn’t easy, but it was worth it. That hunger pushed me to discover my calling and showed me that hard work and determination can turn even the toughest beginnings into something extraordinary.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am KMAX, a global superstar with a multifaceted career that spans music, sports, literature, and business. As a singer and MMA fighter, I’ve built my life around passion, resilience, and creativity.
In 2018, I wrote my first book, Le Gentleman Cogneur, where I shared my story of growing up, facing challenges, and overcoming them on my own. My second book, How Big Can You Dream, co-written in 2020, became an international bestseller, inspiring readers worldwide to pursue their ambitions fearlessly.
Beyond writing, I’ve ventured into acting, appearing in films that showcase my versatility and drive. However, my heart remains deeply rooted in music. In 2021, I signed a publishing deal with Concore/Sony Music Entertainment, solidifying my place in the music industry.
Currently, I am embarking on The Exodus World Tour, which kicks off in January, bringing my electrifying performances to audiences across the globe.
In addition to my creative endeavors, I am an entrepreneur. I’ve launched my own shoe brand and cellular line, both of which reflect my dedication to innovation and quality. You can explore more about my ventures at www.kmaxverse.com.
Through everything I do, my goal is to inspire others to dream big, work hard, and never back down from challenges. I’m proof that with determination and vision, the possibilities are limitless.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
No matter what your situation is, never give up on your dreams. Believe in yourself, stay focused, and trust the process.
Be consistent. If you fall, get back up, and keep pushing forward. Every step, no matter how small, brings you closer to your purpose.
If you can’t find something to live for, then find something to die for. (Not my quote, but a truth to live by.)
The only Plan B you should ever have is to make Plan A work. Get it done or die trying.
Stay hungry, stay determined, and never let obstacles stop you from achieving greatness. You’ve got this!
Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
I am self-made. No one handed me success—I built it from the ground up. Though no one was there to help me, I found guidance in books and the wisdom they offered. Working on myself was the hardest, yet most rewarding, challenge I’ve ever taken on.
Life and its challenges have been my greatest teachers. I didn’t get here by luck; I got good at it simply by refusing to give up and by believing in myself. Every failure taught me something valuable, every mistake made me stronger, and every experience shaped me into the person I am today.
I got better because I kept going, no matter what. Growth is a journey, and I’m living proof that resilience and determination can take you anywhere.
