Meet Karnecia Hall

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Karnecia Hall. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Karnecia, great to have you with us today and excited to have you share your wisdom with our readers. Over the years, after speaking with countless do-ers, makers, builders, entrepreneurs, artists and more we’ve noticed that the ability to take risks is central to almost all stories of triumph and so we’re really interested in hearing about your journey with risk and how you developed your risk-taking ability.
My ability to take risk came naturally, I have always been adventurous, and willing to take on new challenges. The first risk taken was becoming a teen mom, not knowing what to expect, made me want to adventure out more and continue risking the unknown. Teenage parenting was the hardest thing I have done so far in life so risk taking is easy. Being the only child, I was excited to have someone to lead and set an example for. I knew someone else was watching me and that failing was never an option.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am the owner K Monae’s. A shoe boutique that carters to all women of fashion. The brand is available to purchase online or in-store. We are located at 1516 Center Point Parkway Ste 103 Birmingham, AL. My passion for K Monae’s is to be brand that provides great customer service, trending footwear and accessories and leaving customers with a wonderful experience. I started the brand in 2020, I created the website, introduced myself to vendors and educated myself on everything I needed to know as a business owner. I am always researching to find new ideas, trends and opportunities to improve my store. K Monae’s loves to give back to the community, we donate to local non- profits and Girl’s INC to help others. The summer of 2023 I was a part of a program called Gear Up with 2 interns for 6 weeks, they learned marketing skills, critical thinking, content engagement, and we feed to the homeless. In 2024 I promised myself to stay consistent and to in the public’s eye every chance I get.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Audiences, scaling, and content. Thinking back when I first started, I just wanted to make a sale. I would lower my prices just because I knew someone else sold the same thing. Nowadays its bout product, quality and customer service. I have increased my marketing skills, the scaling on pricing has increased tremendously because I now know how to scale to actually make a profit versus basically giving things away for free. Currently I’m still working in the content area. My plan is to have it together by spring.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
After I had my second son at the age of 17, my mom sat me down and had a talk with my son’s father and I. She explained that she felt like I was being grown too fast and that she would help me get ready for the real world. My mom got me an apartment, paid the rent for 6 months, and furnished it. She made sure I had a working vehicle to get to and from work and basically told me to give it my all. At first, I had a lot of emotions but day by day I learned so much. I learned that no matter what I could never give up on me because at the end of the day I was all I had to make it in this thing called life. I now tell her how much I appreciate what she did because it made me so much stronger.
