Kassidy, thanks for taking the time to share your lessons with our community today. So, let’s jump right in – one of the most essential skills for unlocking our potential is self-discipline. Where does your self-discipline come from?

My self-discipline comes from committing to myself. When I make a promise to myself, I do not break it. When you break promises to yourself, you prove to yourself that you’re not worth showing up for. But that’s not true. You are always worth showing up for—you have to show up to prove that. If I made dinner plans with a friend who really needed me, I’d never bail on them, but it’s easy to bail on myself. Decide to be your own best friend and start showing up for her.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

My name is Kassidy Owen; I am an entrepreneur, CEO of Kassidy Lynne Social Media Management, and Podcast host of The In-Between Podcast. I am passionate about becoming the best version of myself and helping others achieve the same. Our greatest limits are those that we set ourselves, and they are also our greatest lessons. My business, Kassidy Lynne Social Media Management, specializes in social media management and content creation. My team and I work with business owners to manage social media accounts and create brand awareness online. My podcast, The In-Between Podcast, is a place where we have conversations that pursue growth, failure, and the In-between. There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Three skills I’ve learned were required to build both a successful business and now a podcast: #1 Self-discipline—If you can’t consciously stick to what you’re building, you’ll never complete the project. Make a choice for yourself, and show up! #2 Delusion – Every entrepreneur will tell you it takes being a little delulu to achieve your dreams. It’s not always going to work out exactly how you think it will, but if you believe in the end goal and fight to get there- no matter where you end up, you’ve achieved success. #3 Self-care – Your dreams/business cannot succeed if you do not take care of yourself. You have to be able to show up for yourself and your physical, mental, and social health to show up for your business. Say goodbye to hustle culture- the real strategy is taking care of your health first and then watching your business thrive because you’ll actually have the ENERGY to push forward.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?

In the last 12 months, I have worked to build a legitimate business. When you first start, you bootstrap- you google- you do anything you can to make it by. Eventually, you outgrow that method and must legally form a business to continue your growth. I hired two incredible business coaches to teach me everything I needed to optimize my business. In the last 12 months, I have learned to structure my business to serve me. I also learned the importance of payroll, CPAs, VAs, and other helping hands that make my life easier (and might even help save me a few bucks!)!
