Meet Kassidy Slaughter

We were lucky to catch up with Kassidy Slaughter recently and have shared our conversation below.

Kassidy, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

For me, I’ve had a unique journey with finding my purpose. I’ve always been deeply aware of my passion for film and acting since I was young. I was fascinated with television before I was even walking. I grew up with my mind absolutely set on pursuing a career in motion pictures. I found so much joy in creating in many aspects, and I always worked with what I had until I could work my way up. After entering my late teen years and early twenties, I found myself heavily debating on my purpose. When things weren’t working out, I’d think: “is this what I’m really supposed to be doing?” I find it to be really normal at that age, where you’re questioning everything as you navigate early adulthood. I think I finally realized my purpose after I’d try many different things, and my mind would still always navigate back to film. I have many things I enjoy, but I will always know where my purpose lies.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Hey everyone, I’m Kass! I am an actress, creator, and most recently a skincare professional. I have always been deeply passionate about the world of film and expanding my passions as a creative. For me, creating has been a way of self-expression and producing something I am proud of. It’s the constant internal monologue that runs through my head every single day.

Whether I’m on set, behind the camera, or working with my clients in the skincare space, I’m always looking for new ways to bring authenticity and connection into everything I do. I believe that creativity is at the heart of personal growth—it challenges me, it pushes me, and it allows me to explore new facets of who I am.

Acting is where it all began, but as I’ve grown, I’ve realized that my creative energy thrives in many forms. From bringing characters to life to curating self-care routines that help others feel their best, I love diving into projects that allow me to nurture both my artistic side and my desire to help others. It’s all about making a positive impact and inspiring others to embrace their own creative journeys too.

I’m currently in the process of developing my own production company, Deore Pictures, and I’m excited about the future and the opportunity to continue exploring, creating, and collaborating with like-minded individuals who share the same passion for making meaningful work.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back on my journey, I’d say the three most impactful qualities, skills, and areas of knowledge that have shaped my path are:

Authenticity in Self-Expression: Whether in acting, creating, or even skincare, staying true to myself has always been a priority. The ability to tap into my own experiences, emotions, and ideas has allowed me to create work that resonates with others. I believe authenticity not only deepens the connection with your audience but also builds confidence in your craft.

Advice: For those early in their journey, my advice would be to explore what truly makes you, you. Embrace vulnerability and lean into your unique perspective. Authenticity will help you stand out and keep you grounded in your work.

Adaptability and Continuous Learning: I’ve always approached creativity with an open mind, eager to grow and learn new things. Acting led me to other forms of creative expression, such as skincare. Embracing these opportunities has helped me grow beyond my initial craft. Understanding that growth is ongoing has allowed me to stay adaptable and open to new projects.

Advice: Stay curious and never stop learning. No experience is wasted, and even skills outside of your main focus can enhance your creative journey. Be open to exploring new areas that excite you—it helps to diversify your skill set and keeps you adaptable in an ever-changing industry.

Resilience and Persistence: The journey as a creative is full of ups and downs. There are moments of rejection, uncertainty, and doubt. But learning to persevere, even when it feels tough, is crucial. Every setback teaches you something valuable that can fuel your growth in the long run.

Advice: Early on, it’s important to remember that failure isn’t final. Build resilience by facing challenges head-on and seeing them as opportunities to learn. Keep pushing through, even when things feel hard, because every step forward counts—even if it’s a small one.

Overall, my advice for those starting out is to focus on staying authentic to your vision, remain open to learning, and build resilience through every experience. Trust your process and have patience with yourself along the way.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

When I feel overwhelmed, I’ve learned that the best way to handle it is through self-care and creating space for myself. I’ve developed a few strategies to keep my mind and body in balance. I prioritize physical care, like a skincare routine or a workout. Skincare has also been a great outlet and it’s been amazing for not only keeping my skin healthy but also giving me time to focus solely on myself. It’s a way to feel refreshed, slow down, and reconnect. Another big one for me is creative expression. When overwhelmed, I turn to my acting or personal projects as a way to channel my emotions. Sometimes, simply writing in a journal or working on a creative idea that excites me helps me break out of the stress cycle and reconnect with what I love about creating. Setting boundaries is also a major strategy I rely on. Learning when to say no and recognizing my limits has been a huge game-changer. It’s hard at first, but it’s important to protect your time and energy. Be kind to yourself, and remember that it’s okay to take breaks and ask for support when you need it. Overwhelm is temporary, but taking care of your mental and physical health is key to navigating it long-term.
