We were lucky to catch up with Kastelo recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kastelo, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
As a kid I would play music for my family and friends, over time I realized the energy it created, the mood in the room it sets. That energy is what made it for me, and pushed me to make a career out of making and playing music.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Hi this is Kastelo! Music producer & DJ from Barcelona, now based in Miami.
As a DJ, my passion is House and Tech House, which gets released under my artist project on all DSPs. With releases supported by main stage names such as Martin Garrix or Tiesto to household House legends such as Mark Knight or Kevin Mckay, I’m very excited for this year! Tunes are usually catalogued as big, dancefloor-friendly vocal bangers with wicked techy beats that will for sure make you move on the dancefloor.
On 2023 I had the incredible opportunity of landing a managment deal with Tainy’s creative incubator NEON16, with the creation of an electronic division. Now, on 2024 such divison will be revealed to the world, incorporating Latin and Spanish influences with electronic music. Very excited for this one.
I’ll also be playing shows accross the US and Europe so stay tuned to my socials!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I’d say be consistency, clear mind, and love.
Consistency is key to make it in the industry, show up. Every day. It’s okay to take small breaks but at the end of the day the more you show up the more people you’ll meet and work with.
Clear mind in the end is essential to to everything. Stress & overthinking only lead to a dark place in the mind which doesn’t let the creative side come to fruition. Meditation helped me a lot!
If you love the art you do, you’ll wake up excited every day. Love the people you work with. Love the music you make.
To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
They always believed in me and supported my journey, wherever it went.
It started by playing the piano at the age of 3, then adding the drums at the age of 6, and then adding up computers and DAWs at the age of 12.
Each stage moved genres constantly, from classical , to jazz, to rock and finally dance music, now getting influences from the Latin sound.
In every stage they have been and are here, supporting and encouraging me to keep going after my dreams. That’s love, unconditional love, and I’ll always be grateful for it. Os quiero papás!
