Meet Kate Cherichello Tente

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kate Cherichello Tente a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Kate Cherichello, we are so happy that our community is going to have a chance to learn more about you, your story and hopefully even take in some of the lessons you’ve learned along the way. Let’s start with self-care – what do you do for self-care and has it had any impact on your effectiveness?

For me, self-care has three non-negotiables in sleep, movement, and how I fuel my body. Add in faith, and these things form the foundation of how I show up – not just physically, but mentally, emotionally, and professionally.
A favorite reminder is: Every bit counts. Adding in movement and healthy choices throughout the day, whether it’s a full, or brief, morning workout, choosing grilled instead of fried, going to bed 10 minutes sooner, or an evening walk, really adds up. All of this helps clear my mind and reset my focus, too.
I feel such a difference when I’m nourishing my body with whole, fresh foods. I drink a ton of water and stay aware of my electrolytes, keep snacks handy, and choose meals that truly support my energy levels.
The biggest impact? I’m more grounded, more resilient, and better able to give my best to everything I do, whether that’s on camera, in a class, or in everyday life. Taking care of myself through these small, consistent actions truly pays off big time.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m a performer, host, and fitness professional with a passion for helping others feel their best. Whether I’m on stage, in front of a camera, or teaching a fitness class, my work has always centered around connection – with an audience, a client, or a community.

One of the most exciting projects I’m currently working on is Healthy In The Garden State, a new streaming show I host that highlights wellness resources, businesses, and inspiring people throughout New Jersey. It’s a full-circle moment for me: I grew up here, left to pursue performance and fitness work across the country, and now get to shine a light on all the ways New Jersey can help us live healthier, fuller lives.

We’ve just launched our first episode, streaming free on YouTube under ‘Healthy In The Garden State’, and episodes will continue to be released monthly. The show spotlights healthy resources and educational moments from outdoor trails to inspiring weight loss journeys to healthy-focused restaurants and more. I am excited by the chance to amplify voices and organizations doing incredible work locally, as well as help educate people more about all aspects of health.

Additionally, I continue to host the podcast Be The Good with Kate, where I interview people making a positive impact while pursuing their passions, I audition for theatrical projects, and, in the fitness world, I work with clients virtually and offer workshops for groups and businesses, helping people fit movement into their lives in a sustainable, empowering way.

In everything I do – performance, podcasting, the show, fitness – my goal is to uplift, inform, and inspire people to take that next positive step, whatever it may be.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Three things that have made a big difference in my journey are: adaptability, genuine curiosity, and perseverance.
Adaptability has been essential because my path hasn’t followed a straight line, and I’m grateful for that. From performing to fitness to hosting, each chapter has brought new lessons, and that’s required being open to change and willing to learn. Whether it was figuring out how to run my own fitness business, shifting to virtual content, or launching a streaming show from scratch, adapting as I go has been key.
Curiosity has always fueled me. I love learning, asking questions, hearing people’s stories…and that same curiosity lends ideally to my job as a host. It’s how I find guests, uncover new places and ideas, and create content that connects. For anyone just starting out, I’d say: Stay curious. Ask more questions. Reach out to people in and outside your field. Curiosity opens doors you didn’t even know were there.
And then there’s perseverance: showing up even when the path is unclear or the outcome isn’t guaranteed. Especially in creative fields, you hear a lot of “no.” But when you believe in what you’re doing, you keep going. That determination has carried me through so much.
Surround yourself with people who inspire and challenge you, be open to learning, and don’t wait for perfect timing. Have faith. Start where you are, stay curious, and keep showing up.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

I would love to hear from anyone who is impacted by Healthy In The Garden State, and we have our ears and eyes open to feedback as we work to provide a resource to NJ residents!
