We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kate Jade a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kate, so excited to have you with us today, particularly to get your insight on a topic that comes up constantly in the community – overcoming creativity blocks. Any thoughts you can share with us?
I am a firm believer that creativity is inextricably linked to divinity. Inspiration that comes from otherworldly realms feels different whether it is expressed through writing, music, art, or any other medium. Truly creative works give us chills, bring tears to our eyes, and move us in ways we can hardly articulate.
When people experience creative blocks, myself included, it seems to be caused by a lack of inspiration. A disconnect from the vastness of the cosmos. After all, how could one look at how dazzling the night skies are, the vibrancy of the aurora borealis, or the rhythm of the trees dancing in the breeze and not be moved to create?
Our modern world is designed to overstimulate and separate us from these beautiful glimpses of the universe. When I make my way back into Mother Nature, embracing her vastness and glory, creative blocks always dissolve in an instant.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Astarte’s Temple is my heart and soul. My husband, Wes, and I founded the metaphysical shop and wisdom school with a hope of bringing quality esoteric teaching and hand-crafted ritual tools to spiritual practitioners of every path. Through Astarte’s Temple, we teach a 3.5 year pathworking program that explores ancient wisdom, magick, and occultism. Although we do not have a physical location, we are engaged with the local community and participate in events and pop-up markets. I’ve also had the honor of breaking down The Mystic’s Journey program into smaller classes and workshops offered in-person at local, trusted shops, such as Hearth Wisdom Store in Pantego, Texas. Whether you’re in the process of deconstructing from modern religion, exploring alternative belief systems and lifestyles, or well on your magickal way, we’ve got something for you through Astarte’s Temple.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
In the realm of spirituality, I cannot reiterate the importance of being open-minded, willing to unlearn old things you were taught to make room for re-learning, and focusing on balance. These three things, regardless of what path you ultimately find yourself on, will always be applicable and will carry you through difficult seasons of growth.
At any point on my journey, if I find myself even for a moment getting too comfortable in what I think I know, I remind myself that in many areas, we’re just barely scratching the surface knowledge-wise of the possibilities in our infinite universe.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
At Astarte’s Temple, we truly believe that small businesses are stronger and the most impactful when they support one another. We love partnering with other companies who share our love for divinity and spirituality. Whether you are a local metaphysical shop, yoga studio, or holistic brand, we’d love to connect and collaborate!
