Finding my purpose has been a journey of embracing my passion for creating meaningful jewelry and building connections through craftsmanship. It all started with a deep appreciation for minimalist design and a desire to create pieces that could tell a story or hold special meaning for the wearer. Over time, I realized that I wasn’t just making jewelry—I was crafting moments and memories for people.
This purpose became clearer as I saw the joy and connection my work brought to others. It’s not just about the products; it’s about the experiences they inspire and the stories they help tell. Being able to infuse my cultural background and values, such as sustainability and giving back to the planet, has made this journey even more fulfilling.

At Caitlyn Minimalist, I create meaningful, minimalist jewelry that captures life’s special moments. Our pieces are designed to be more than just accessories; they’re keepsakes that tell stories and celebrate personal connections. As an Asian female-founded brand, I’m proud to blend cultural influences and sustainable practices into our designs, with a commitment to crafting affordable jewelry that resonates with diverse audiences.
What excites me the most is seeing our jewelry become a part of people’s lives, from gifts that mark milestones to pieces worn daily as reminders of meaningful memories. We’re also continually evolving—right now, I’m thrilled to share that we’re expanding our offerings with the launch of a new scarf collection and opening our first pop-up store at Irvine Spectrum. It’s an exciting time for us, and I can’t wait to see where this journey takes us next.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three qualities that have been most impactful on my journey are resilience, creativity, and a willingness to learn.
Resilience: Starting and growing a business involves many challenges, from navigating setbacks to staying motivated. Resilience has helped me push through obstacles and adapt to changes. For anyone starting out, I’d advise embracing failure as a learning opportunity and maintaining a mindset of perseverance.
Creativity: As a jewelry designer, creativity is at the core of what I do. It’s not just about crafting beautiful pieces but also finding unique ways to connect with customers and share stories through design. For those early in their journey, focus on cultivating your own creative voice. Don’t be afraid to experiment, and always stay curious about what inspires you.
Willingness to Learn: The business landscape is constantly evolving, and the ability to learn and adapt has been essential. Whether it’s understanding new design techniques, marketing strategies, or customer preferences, continuous learning keeps you ahead. For newcomers, I’d recommend seeking mentorship, staying up-to-date with industry trends, and being open to feedback—it’s a valuable source of growth.
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
My journey wouldn’t have been the same without the support of my family and team. My family has always been a pillar of strength, encouraging me to pursue my passion for jewelry-making and supporting me through the ups and downs. Their belief in me has fueled my resilience and motivation to keep going.
My team has also played a crucial role. Having dedicated people who share my vision and bring their own skills and perspectives has been invaluable. Together, we’ve navigated challenges, learned from each other, and celebrated successes. For anyone starting out, I’d recommend surrounding yourself with supportive people who can offer different perspectives and help you learn along the way.
