Meet Kate Oakley

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kate Oakley. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kate below.

Kate, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
I honestly don’t know. I guess I don’t know what else to do but see what I can do.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
What I do is capture the best moments of someones life. I get to be part of it, share in it and give people a physical memory. Along the way I meet amazing people and share in some amazing moments. I’ve photographed some famous Weddings, been to Events with famous people, and been blessed to sit on some life changing speeches. On occasion I even get invited back stage which is great too. I love having new experiences. Recently we added a baby to our mix and she will be the newest assistant.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The advice I have is to always be open to learning. There are a lot of new photographers who just snap their fingers, call themselves professionals, and get big egos. You may have the best equipment and take horrible photos. You may have outdated equipment but an amazing eye and capture amazing things. Don’t get an ego, and always be open to learning.

How would you describe your ideal client?
My ideal client is the person reading this. If you value quality, professionalism, realism, memories, and decor then I want to talk to you. If your passionate and have an event that you want to show off, then lets chat. If you value yourself, then give me a call. I don’t want the bargain hunter whose on a tight budget and just wants the basics. I want someone who wants to take pride in themselves, and wants to share it with others. Lets make some magic happen.
