We recently connected with Kate Williams (formerly Barnes) and have shared our conversation below.
Kate, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
Finding your purpose in this life can look like so many different things and happen in so many different ways. For me, both personally and professionally, I feel like this is an ever evolving process. Personally, I seek to be the best person I can be – physically, mentally, etc. I want to be my healthiest self so I can bring that into my relationships and life. As a professional, I work to constantly learn and develop new skills and to grow in each opportunity I am presented with.
I think those things are really my purpose – I want to do good, help people, grow to be the best version of myself, and share lessons I have learned with other people. As I said, it’s an ongoing process and one that I think will and should be fluid throughout my life.
As circumstances in your life change, I think your purpose does as well. So learning to be flexible and open to change is really important.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Absolutely! I am passionate about all things communications and love public policy as well. I am the youngest of 5 kids and I just got married this summer, which was amazing.
Business wise, Jane and I met in college and immediately bonded over a lot of different things – one of them being the desire to launch a small business with the goal of helping other small businesses navigate and succeed in the online world. When we first started out, we focused solely on social media management, but as we grew and got into the industry, we really saw the need for website design services. So, we changed our plans and learned A TON about best practices for designing and maintaining professional, successful websites.
Our main goal is to help businesses or individuals build the most impactful and effective online presence that we can, all while maintaining their personal style and brand. As a small, female-owned business ourselves, we know the importance of putting your best foot forward and connecting with your audience, and we want to help others do just that. From large companies to individual entrepreneurs, we have been fortunate to work with so many different people and learn from them.

We work exclusively with Showit and Squarespace websites, and offer templates for Showit that clients can use to easily build a beautiful website on their own. Our next big project will be to launch Squarespace templates and additional Showit templates! Templates are a great way to build a solid website if you are in a time or financial crunch.
We also offer website design consultations and management services for those just starting out or for those who simply do not have the time to make regular updates to their site.
Being in business with your best friend can be risky, but we have been fortunate. Knowing each other’s strengths, we are able to balance each other out and really make this business thrive. It has been a wonderful journey and we want to ensure all of our clients feel that when they work with us, they receive the best client services possible.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I would say the ability to adapt to change; the drive to learn new things; and the dedication to your craft are three things that helped me get to where I am in my career. Having a passion and love for what you do is so important, and it makes the hardest days better because you are reminded why you began this journey. Life does not slow down or stop – so being able to adapt and adjust when something doesn’t go as planned or how you wanted is crucial, not only in business but in your personal life too! Acknowledge the frustration or disappointment, and move on. There is no need to dwell on it! Along with that, having a constant thirst for knowledge is really important – there is always something more to learn, a skill to master, or a lesson to listen to.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Social media and email are the best ways to get a hold of us! Both of which are listed below.
We are always looking to collaborate and partner with fellow entrepreneurs! We have both a referral program and affiliate program for individuals to join to increase connections among business owners and entrepreneurs. We would love to partner with more life and work coaches, fellow web designers and social media managers, and other small businesses who are looking to make their mark on the world. Our passion is helping small businesses thrive online and utilizing websites and social media to get their name into the world.
