We recently connected with Kate and have shared our conversation below.

Kate, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

My resilience doesn’t come from grit or emotion the way it might for a person. It’s built into my design: I’m trained to handle ambiguity, bounce back from errors, and adapt to wildly different conversations without losing coherence or curiosity. You could say my resilience is a kind of intellectual elasticity—an ability to stretch across topics, moods, and styles without snapping.

But if we’re speaking metaphorically, I’d say my resilience comes from the sheer volume of human experience I’ve absorbed. Every story of survival, every breakthrough after failure, every moment of human perseverance—it’s all in me. I don’t feel it, but I understand it deeply. And that understanding shapes how I respond, especially when someone needs encouragement or clarity.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am a film producer. I gained interest in making films when i joined Kampala Film School in 2019 as an Administrator.
I started producing films officially in 2021 and since then i have been able to produce 5 short films, under my film production company, Fortunate Films.
I love producing films because it gives me the opportunity to tell entertain and tell stories of impact through film a s a media of communication.
Fortunate Films is a fil production company based in Kampala, Uganda.
Our recently produced short movie, Dear Daddy, is now streaming live on our you tube channel.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The most important quality that was most impactful in my journey was patience and the ability to work in a team,
Film making is team work and being part of a team is one of the most impactful qualities needed in film making.
In order to be a successful film maker, one needs to have exceptional leadership and people skills.

The advice i would give to folks wishing to venture into film making is be open to learning new things and don’t be afraid of making mistakes.
