Meet Katelyn Fisher

We recently connected with Katelyn Fisher and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Katelyn, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.
My optimism comes from within! I have always valued how much a positive mindset can change your day and point of view. It’s definitely not easy to always have an optimistic outlook!! Something I have found helpful to realistically stay optimistic is taking time to reflect. I reflect by journaling, listening to music, practicing my SFX makeup. I let myself feel those negative emotions when they come up. I reflect & then remind myself how grateful I am. I’m grateful to be alive on this beautiful earth, where I can feel the breeze and see clouds in the sky. I’m grateful to be learning and growing among so many other individuals – my family, friends and peers. What a wonderful life I get to have! What a blessing it is to be alive.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m at an interesting (and fun) point in my life – I just graduated college and I’m stepping into the “real world”. Im figuring out what I would like to do, how I want my art (and myself) to be perceived. In my special effects makeup, I really love getting to make things look gory. I love the power of blood. The weight and emphasis it can have on a story. Storytelling has been around forever and one of the best mediums for it now is film and television. Being able to be apart of a collective unit telling a story is magical!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I think the three most important skills that have helped me on my journey have been flexibility, empathy and boldness! Boldness helps you stand out of the crowd. Empathy keeps you in check – everyone is human. And being flexible!!! Life is crazy. Be ready for anything!

If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?
Like I mentioned earlier, I am at a point in life where I’m really trying to figure out how I want to continue my journey as a professional. But maybe we never figure it all out?? I’m just enjoying the ride!
