Meet Katelyn Molesky

We recently connected with Katelyn Molesky and have shared our conversation below.

Katelyn , so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

I have learned through modeling that confidence is key. Throughout the past few years, even when I was not modeling, I have took a lot of time learning to love myself. It is something that I have often struggled with but I am finally to the point of being happy and secure with myself. One main thing that has helped me get to this point is realizing that you have to surround yourself with the right people. When I started modeling I found a really supportive and positive community that has helped me see my self worth and get to the point of confidence that I am at today.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

My name is Katelyn Molesky, early this year I started modeling and I enjoy every second of it. I have walked in multiple runway shows and have participated in many photo shoots throughout the year. I have been honored to walk for multiple designers including, Snarkeez, Avenue X Fashions, and Pixton Design Group and have modeled on the runway for Dillards and Macys! All of this was made possible by The Charlotte Fashion Collective, a wonderful group of models, designers, and photographers. The Charlotte Fashion Collective welcomed me in with open arms. It is an amazing community that allows every model to feel special and seen. I am excited to say that The CFC has two more shows coming up! One is on August 17th, partnering with Dillards we will be modeling “Back To School” clothing on the runway! The next show is our biggest one of the year being called “The Sound Of Fashion” on October 19th. Both of these shows will be amazing! Check out The CFC website for more information on these amazing productions coming up!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The important qualities I have learned I need to be successful in modeling are communication, organization, and being able to step out of your comfort zone. Communication is critical because it allows me to effectively collaborate with photographers and designers ensuring that both of our ideas are seen. Organization helps me manage my schedule, keep track of appointments, and prepare for shoots. Being organized is also very important for me as I also work as a gymnastics coach, making sure I don’t have a shoot on the same day I have work can be hard sometimes so I like to keep a calendar with everything I have going on so shoots and work do not clash. Overall organization is essential in modeling. Finally, being able to step out of your comfort zone can be hard, but once you do, it enables you to accept new and challenging opportunities, adapt to different styles, and continuously grow as a model and overall as a person.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?

When I am feeling overwhelmed I try to take some time to myself. I will watch TV, write in my journal, read a book, or sometimes just laying down and resting. It is essential to make sure you balance your social life and alone time. In modeling you get very busy, so every time I get the chance to just settle down and rest, I do. When at photo shoots and runway shows, getting overwhelmed sometimes can happen. When there is a lot of people around and you are trying to recenter yourself, I like to use positive self talk and deep breaths. I know it sounds cliche, but it does work. I also like to talk to other models about how I am feeling in certain situations because they are more than likely to understand.
