Meet Kathleen Fee

We recently connected with Kathleen Fee and have shared our conversation below.

Kathleen, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

My work ethic definitely comes from my parents. They immigrated from Ireland to the U.S. with nothing and worked tirelessly to build a life for our family. Growing up, I saw firsthand the sacrifices they made and the determination they had to make sure we had opportunities. It wasn’t easy, and we all had to work hard for whatever we got, but that experience shaped who I am today.

They taught me the value of persistence, of showing up even when things are tough, and of never taking anything for granted. That mindset has stayed with me in my music career—it’s what pushes me to keep going, to always give my best, and to stay grounded in gratitude for every step forward. I owe so much of my drive and determination to their example.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I’m Kathleen Fee, and my journey is deeply rooted in music—a passion that has grown into a fulfilling career. Recently, I went through what I call my “Kathleen 2.0” moment—a transformative shift from being part of a band to focusing on my solo project in Nashville. This new chapter has brought a renewed sense of energy, allowing me to challenge myself and dive even deeper into expanding on my 2.0, while drawing on influences from my Irish heritage.

I’m thrilled to share that I’ve just released my album, Glitter Gold. Performing songs from the album live has been such a rewarding experience, with recent shows in Montauk at the Surf Lodge and in Nashville at Analog. For those who have been following my journey, I’m so grateful for your continued support. And for those I’m just meeting, welcome! I hope my music resonates with you.

Looking ahead, I’m excited about exploring more live performances and new collaborations. This is just the beginning, and I can’t wait to share more of this journey with all of you.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I think three qualities have really stood out as being the most impactful: resilience, a willingness to learn, and staying true to my voice.

Resilience has been key—there are so many ups and downs in the music world, and being able to keep pushing forward even when things don’t go as planned has made all the difference. It’s not always easy, but stepping outside your comfort zone is often where you learn the most valuable lessons.

The second thing is a constant willingness to learn. I think there’s always something new to absorb, whether from other artists, collaborators, or just through experience.

Finally, staying true to my voice has been really important. It can be tempting to chase trends or fit into a certain mold, but I’ve found that the more I trust my instincts and create music that feels authentic, the more rewarding the journey becomes.

For those who are early in their journey, my advice would be to embrace the learning curve and not be afraid of stumbling—they’re part of the process. Surround yourself with people who encourage your growth and above all, remember that your unique voice is your greatest strength. Trust it, nurture it, and let it guide you.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

There have been so many people along the way who have played a huge part in helping me grow and overcome challenges. First and foremost, my family has always been my biggest support system—they’ve encouraged me from the very beginning, reminding me to stay true to myself, especially when things felt tough.

I’ve also been incredibly lucky to work with some amazing collaborators and mentors, like Elisha Hoffman and Rebecca Lynn Howard, who have pushed me to improve, challenged me in the best way possible, and shared their wisdom and experience with so much generosity. Those relationships have been invaluable in helping me develop both as an artist and a person.

Honestly, I don’t think I could have gotten where I am without the support of the people around me. It’s a reminder that while the journey is personal, we all need others to lift us up along the way. I’m incredibly grateful for that.
