We were lucky to catch up with Kathryn Robbins recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kathryn, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
Dancing has played a major role in helping me build confidence and self-esteem. When I first started, I was shy and unsure of myself, afraid of making mistakes or being watched by others. As I continued to dance, I began to feel more comfortable expressing myself through movement. Each new step I learned and every routine I mastered reminded me that I was capable of growth and improvement. Dancing taught me to appreciate my body not for how it looked, but for what it could do. Performing in front of others challenged me to face my fears and let go of self-doubt, and over time I found a new kind of freedom in simply being myself. The joy and energy I felt while dancing became a lasting source of confidence that flowed into other areas of my life. Through dance, I discovered not just rhythm and movement, but also a deeper sense of who I am and what I’m capable of achieving.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m a Client Service Specialist dedicated to ensuring exceptional client and patient satisfaction through professionalism, empathy, and care. In addition to my full-time role, I also work part-time as a Mary Kay Consultant, where I get to share my passion for beauty and confidence by helping customers explore and try exciting new products. I love creating positive experiences whether it’s helping someone feel valued through excellent service or helping them look and feel their best with Mary Kay.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1. Exceptional Customer Care – I prioritize building genuine relationships and ensuring every client feels valued, heard, and satisfied with their experience.
2. Professionalism and Integrity – I maintain a high standard of honesty, consistency, and respect in all business interactions, creating trust and loyalty among clients.
3. Passion for Growth and Innovation – I stay open to learning, improving, and introducing new products or services that enhance my clients’ confidence and satisfaction.
Here’s advice I could give someone to develop each:
1. Client/Patient Satisfaction Focus- Encourage them to really hear what the client is saying repeat back or summarize to ensure understanding.Teach them to put themselves in the client’s shoes. Understanding emotions builds trust.
Small check-ins or updates show reliability and care. Show them that asking clients what works or could improve makes the relationship stronger.
2.Adaptability & Willingness to Try New Things-Suggest trying new tools, techniques, or ideas, even if they seem outside comfort zones. Frame failures as learning opportunities, not setbacks.Encourage them to notice what works for others and consider how it can apply to their own approach.Gradually pushing boundaries helps them build confidence in new situations.
3. Professionalism & Strong Relationship Skills-Teach them to be concise, polite, and thoughtful in every interaction.
Being dependable in actions and words builds trust.Encourage remembering names, personal preferences, and meaningful details about colleagues or clients.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents ever did for me was give me the freedom to be myself. They trusted me enough to let me take risks, including moving to Los Angeles on my own, without knowing anyone. That leap into the unknown taught me independence, resilience, and the courage to trust myself. Their support wasn’t about protecting me from failure it was about empowering me to discover who I truly am and what I’m capable of. That freedom has shaped not only the choices I make but also the person I continue to become.
