Meet Kathy Borie

We recently connected with Kathy Borie and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Kathy , appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

Being the daughter of Portuguese immigrants who came here in the 70’s with a few bucks in their pocket and not knowing the language, I learned resiliency early on. My father bought a gas station and became a small business owner and my parents learned English by watching the news. I’m proud to be a 2nd generation small business owner. Having my kids is my greatest blessing and they inspire me to be a kind entrepreneur.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’m a nature loving mom who enjoys cleaning. When I wanted to get back in the first force after being a SAHM for several years, I figured what better than to combine 2 of my passions, being eco friendly and cleaning.

Keeping a cleaning business afloat during the 2020 pandemic was extremely challenging and eye opening. I took that time to get several online certifications on how to safely disinfect infections diseases. I’ve also won best cleaning business for over 8 years in my 10 years of being in business, which is something I’m extremely proud of too.

I love sharing, cleaning tips and tricks and business tips to follow entrepreneurs on my various social media platforms and have even written an e-book all about equal cleaning that you can find on my Etsy shop – Etsy.com/shop/crunchycleanbykathy

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The three qualities I would say any entrepreneur should have in running a successful business would be having a passion for what you’re doing, great customer service skills, and consistency. If you don’t like what you’re doing, you’re never going to be good at it and clients and customers we’ll see that. As a professional cleaner, I’m not just cleaning toilets, but I’m also touching lives, so customer service skills is key. Being an entrepreneur nowadays also means utilizing social media and creating content so being consistent with posting helps my business and brand greatly.

How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?

I would spend my time with my family, enjoying every moment watching my kids grow and spending quality time with my friends. I would also work on producing more eco-cleaning & business videos so that when I’m gone, people can continue learning how to properly and safely clean with eco-friendly cleaning products. We all share this planet and have one turn on it. It’s up to us to make better choices. It’s not just about cleaning our physical home but it’s cleaning our beautiful Mother Earth home.
