Meet Katia Munoz

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Katia Munoz. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Katia, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

I grew up watching my parents turn our home into the business they had at the time. That experience taught me that many things can happen beyond my control, but the one thing I do have control over is my attitude. Now, I see every challenge as an opportunity to learn.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I came to the U.S. three years ago, excited to build my baking business in a city I had always dreamed of living in. With a passion for creating delicious treats and a drive to make my vision a reality, I embraced the challenges of starting over. Over the past three years, I’ve grown my business through hard work, creativity, and a deep love for my craft. What excites me most is sharing my baked goods with the community and seeing how they bring people together. I also enjoy sharing the knowledge I’ve gained over the past 11 years, helping others discover the joy of baking. I’m constantly working on new ideas, from expanding my product line to hosting pop-ups, and I’m excited for what’s ahead!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

In the first three years of my baking business, I failed at most of the recipes I tried to recreate. It was incredibly frustrating, but I kept trying—again and again—until one day, the recipe turned out perfect. Looking back, I realize this experience taught me persistence, which has become one of the most valuable qualities in my journey. I’ve learned to apply that same persistence and consistency to every area of my life.

For those just starting out, my advice is to embrace failure as part of the process. Stay consistent, be patient with yourself, and trust that improvement comes with time and effort. Success doesn’t happen overnight, but with dedication and a willingness to keep learning, you’ll get there.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?

They let me be and do my thing. My parents never questioned me, even when I opened a bakery at 25 with zero experience. They always trusted my decisions and supported me unconditionally. The only time they step in is when they notice I’m not moving forward—something that’s unlike me, as I’m always on the go. When that happens, they simply ask, ‘What’s happening? What’s the next step?’ Their belief in me has been one of the most impactful things in my journey.
