Meet Katie Farmer

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Katie Farmer. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Katie with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I grew up in a household with two very loving parents. My dad grew up poor, but worked his way to being being a successful entrepreneur. Watching him do business I learned discipline and persistence. I inherited my creativity from my mom, who’s passion is writing. The work ethic, combined with creativity is what later led to my success as an entreprenuer.

As a kid dance was something that I was innately drawn to, yet wasn’t naturally skilled at. I began lessons at the age of 8, when most had been in a studio since the age of 3. I always felt like I was catching up. The challenge of that enticed me to practice constantly.
Finally, after 5 years I talked my parents into competition dance. During tryouts I gave my heart and soul to it. I made the team by the skin of my teeth, and it was with the contingency that I was up to par by the first competition or I wouldn’t perform. The challenge of that drove me to work harder at it each day. And, I found that the discipline of that paid off.
My biggest asset through it all was my PASSION. While others were more skilled than me, my talent came from my showmanship, and the way in which I could perform. Music, and the feelings I was able to express within, was my ticket. It was also the thing that kept me going when I could have given up.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Currently, I am focused on two things:

  1. MY APP: ON-DEMAND FITNESS & MINDSET (RAW)
For 17 years, I’ve empowered thousands of women in my Cardio Dance classes. Often we will pack a room of 60 people, of all walks of life, music pumping, high-energy classes. It’s euphoric, to say the least! The BIGGEST thing I want people to leave every class with isn’t the physical change, but the emotional one. To walk out the door CONFIDENT. The rest, the change in the body, is simply a byproduct.

Now, I want to take this impact, and make it accessible to ALL, through an online program. There are dance workouts, yoga, and mindset exercises, such as goal-setting & meditation.

You can access it at raw-by-katie.passion.io

  1. LIFE COACHING: I work alongside people as a guide to overcoming obstacles, fear, or indecision. The program’s focus is to help others get UNSTUCK, and confidently live their dream life!

I just launched a 3-step program “Rewrite Your Story” (A Guide to Reinventing Yourself)
step 1: THE MASTER PLAN
step 2: REDIRECT: REDEFINING YOUR WORTH
step 3: HOW TO STAY THE COURSE

For 6 weeks I work one-on-one with you in creating a custom plan and detailed course of action, to create a massive shift in your life. Are you ready to live fully in your purpose?

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

  1. TALK ABOUT IT: If you’re embarking on something new and it terrifies/challenges you, share it. Talk about your passion, as well as the sacrifices necessary to do them. It’ll surprise you the number of people who have a fear of something similar. Hearing about it will draw them in, and give them strength through osmosis.
  2. COMMUNITY: One thing I have always done naturally, thankfully, is bringing people together. When you first share your passion, you’ll attract others who feel the same. And, although you may be similar, each one of you have different strengths, which may be necessary in the journey. It’s like a puzzle with all of the pieces coming together.
  3. GRIT: There were many long hours, days and weeks. Having the fortune of doing what I loved, as a career, I never wanted to take it for granted. When you’re tired, or major adversities hit, always remember it’s worth it!

How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?
Since closing the studios a few years back, my purpose has been to launch my online platforms in both the dance and fitness app, and Life Coaching. While facing the challenges of doing something new, I was also grieving the spaces. I’ve now gotten to the point where I feel like I’m in a good place, thankfully. However, being a single mom and supporting my daughter, I need, now more than ever, to grow and thrive.
