Meet Katie Kage

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Katie Kage. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Katie, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

I wish I could say I’ve always been confident, but that hasn’t been my story. For a long time, I tied my worth to how much I achieved, how I looked, or how much I could do for everyone else. No matter how hard I worked, it never felt like enough.

When I became a mom, that struggle only got louder. I poured everything into my family and career, but I was running on empty and constantly questioning if I was failing at both. My confidence was at an all-time low because I’d lost sight of who I was underneath the roles and expectations.

What changed for me wasn’t a single big moment, but instead it was a slow rebuilding. Learning to keep promises to myself, practicing saying ‘no’ without guilt, and getting honest about the negative beliefs I’d carried since childhood. It’s still a process. Confidence, for me, isn’t about never doubting myself; it’s about showing up anyway and reminding myself that my worth doesn’t depend on perfection.

That’s why I’m so passionate about the work I do now. I know what it feels like to lose yourself, and I also know the freedom of finding your voice again.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m the co-CEO of BBIQ, where our mission is to empower women, especially moms, to step into confidence, health, and a life that feels deeply fulfilling. Professionally, my background is as a Registered Dietitian and college professor, but what lights me up the most is helping women rediscover who they are beyond the roles of mom, partner, or employee.

At BBIQ, we created a signature system based on behavior change science that’s called The Quest. It’s a four-step framework that blends self-reflection, mindset, habits, and community. What’s special about it is that it’s not about giving women another impossible to-do list. It’s about providing them with practical tools to help them reconnect with themselves, set boundaries without guilt, and build systems that make life easier instead of harder.

The most exciting part for me is seeing women light up again after they’ve lost themselves. Getting to watch them go from exhausted and doubtful to feeling strong, worthy, and proud of themselves give me so much joy. That transformation is what keeps me motivated every single day to push through the challenges of owning a business.

Right now, we’re especially focused on growing The Quest Club, our monthly membership designed to be a safe, supportive space for moms to build confidence, learn practical tools, and connect with a community that really gets it. We just launched our VIP founding members program, and are excited to take this big step toward creating the go-to space for moms who are ready to stop just surviving and start truly thriving.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, these are three things have been the most impactful in my journey:

1. Resilience. Life has thrown me plenty of challenges, but learning how to get back up after setbacks, whether in motherhood, my career, or personally, has shaped who I am. Resilience isn’t about never struggling, it’s about reminding yourself that hard moments don’t define you. My advice: practice reframing failure as feedback. Ask yourself, What did this teach me? instead of, Why did this happen to me?

2. Curiosity and lifelong learning. As a dietitian and professor, I’ve always loved science and education, but the real growth happened when I applied that same curiosity to myself and started questioning my beliefs, my habits, and even my identity. For anyone starting out, I’d say: never stop being a student of yourself. The more you understand you, the more aligned and confident you’ll become.

3. Building supportive systems. I used to think success was about working harder, but I’ve learned it’s about building better systems and surrounding yourself with the right people. For me, that looks like daily habits that keep me grounded, and a community of women who remind me I don’t have to do it all alone. My advice: start small. Create one simple system, whether it’s a morning routine or a weekly check-in with a friend, that makes your life feel lighter. Those small systems compound into big changes.

At the end of the day, skills and knowledge are important, but what really carries you forward is a willingness to keep showing up, keep learning, and keep leaning on others

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

Absolutely! I believe collaboration is one of the most powerful ways to create impact. At BBIQ, we’re always excited to connect with people who share our mission of helping women step into confidence, health, and a more joyful life. That could look like partnering with other wellness professionals, therapists, coaches, or creatives who are passionate about women’s empowerment and mental and physical well-being.

I also love collaborating with organizations and brands that want to bring fresh, science-backed, and practical tools to their communities through workshops, speaking, writing, or group programs.

The best collaborations happen when values align, so if someone reading this feels that spark and wants to make a difference in women’s lives, I’d love to hear from them. The easiest way to connect is through our website or by reaching out to me directly through email.
