Meet Katlin Pacheco

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Katlin Pacheco. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Katlin below.

Katlin, thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with us today. We’re excited to dive into your story and your work, but first let’s start with a broader topic that might be stopping many of our readers from pursuing their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. How have you managed to persist despite haters and nay-sayers that inevitably follow folks who are doing something unique, special or off the beaten path?
As a young women who grew up in the farming community, I pretty much had to deal with getting dismissed a lot. I was a young girl in high school through college working at a hardware/feed store and had men come in who refused to get my help, and requested a man instead. I was looked at as young and dumb sometimes. Little did they know I grew up with a farming background. I know I didn’t know everything, but I knew enough. At this point as a woman you just need to know your worth and where you stand. I could’ve sat there and argued my way into a headache with male clientele I’ve interacted with, but I learned it isn’t worth my time.
I’ve been degraded, I’ve had rumors spread about me, I’ve been body-shamed, and countless other encounters. Yes it hurts, yes I’ve developed alot of self-critcism along the way, but I’m at the point in my life I just let it fuel my fire.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m a woman of many endeavors. I work remotely for a great marketing company as their Client Relations Specialist – 2A Marketing. 2A Marketing is a full service marketing & advertising agency in Belton, Missouri. From brand building and managing media campaigns to web maintenance and growing social profiles, our small team of creative hybrids turns headaches into opportunities, and turns small and medium-sized businesses into recognizable brands. Business owners work with 2A Marketing because we make it easy for them to do what they do best, run their business. I am what they call the “central hub” of the agency. I do many things from tracking the workflow between clients, communication between clients and our departments, project management, and assist our administration team with redefining any new processes or ideas to better the company.

I’ve become an advocate for women in business and my community “Women Who Mean Business” was born. I help inspire and motivate women to be the best that they can be and take what I’ve learned from 2A Marketing to help women with their businesses. Our Facebook group currently consists of 158 members and I’ve just recently expanded to selling women empowerment merchandise. Our topics of discussion range from self care, motivational quotes to business tips. Any woman is free to join whether your a high school/college student, a boss lady running her own business, a stay at home mom, anyone! You don’t have to have a business to show everyone you mean business.

I have a new project I am also excited to share about – I am currently writing a book. It has been my lifelong dream to publish a book and I’m finally taking the time to make my dream come true. I used to write fiction when I was younger, but I am pivoting my genre and writing a self-help book. In this book I dive into the realm of small town living and the things I learned outside of the farm. I am taking my personal experiences and applying it to this book for other people to read who might have dealt with the same things as me. It will be a long, tedious journey, but I am excited to put forth the time and dedication to make this book great.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Resilience is a big one. Whatever life throws at you you need to learn how to a.) deal with it and b.) figure out how you’re going to push forward. I’ve encountered hardships from car accidents, emotional abuse, to moving to a completely different state. My mother always told me “If God didn’t think you could handle it, he wouldn’t put you through it”. I accept anything that gets thrown my way and try my best to push through. Yes, I may sit through and cry for a second, but after I’ve sat down and dealt with the situation, I get up and figure out how I’m going to continue.

Humility is the second quality. Own your mistakes instead of hiding from them or blaming other people. The sooner you learn you’re not perfect, the better. We all have areas we could improve on, and sometimes learning from other people is the part of personal development we need.

Last but not least – kindess. Just be a good person. With all the craziness that’s going on in this world, there doesn’t need to be added negativity. Smile at a stranger, open the door for someone, give a compliment…there are so many acts of random kindess we can do to just make the day better.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I am always looking for women to connect and collaborate with. I value making connections and building relationships. In the Women Who Mean Business Facebook group, you can do just that. I’m looking for women who want to share their experiences and help other women along the way. You can find my group by searching Women Who Mean Business on Facebook or clicking the links associated with my social media profiles. If you are also a woman who is looking for ways to expand her business, 2A Marketing and I will work with you on a journey to craft strategies fit for your business and help you navigate the path to success. From website development, brand strategy, to social media marketing, there’s pretty much nothing we can’t do!
