Kaushal and Serena, thank you so much for joining us and offering your lessons and wisdom for our readers. One of the things we most admire about you is your generosity and so we’d love if you could talk to us about where you think your generosity comes from.
I believe it’s developed over the years. In my 20’s I had unconventional hours and days off, that’s when I started voluteering at soup kitchens, hospitals, and making food for the homeless. Compassion is a beautiful expression of love for others and can be easily accomplished through simple gestures like a smile or asking someone how their day is going. Both can go a long way and are free. I love starting conversations with people and you’ll be amazed at what strangers will tell you.

About 7 years ago, one of my best friends and I started a passion project which has continued to evolve, and in the spring of 2022, we launched AskYourGirls into a global digital platform.
We’re building a community of caring, compassion, encouragement, inclusion, support, and positivity. Starting a business is challenging and can be scary and overwhelming. We have the technology piece solved and want to share it with women, whether they are just starting their businesses or are seasoned entrepreneurs. If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
There’s not just one thing that’s tough about running a business. Self-doubt in creating something new, a sense of being alone, and the fact you’re taking a risk with capital are some of the hardest challenges. But having a strong vision and seeing momentum build on our platform is what has kept us moving forward.
If you are looking to start, run and grow a business make sure you have some source of financial backing.
Your core culture is also very crucial. Most importantly, keep your eye on the prize and learn to pivot in order to make your dreams a reality.
