Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kayden Tokarski. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kayden, thank you so much for making time for us. We’ve always admired your ability to take risks and so maybe we can kick things off with a discussion around how you developed your ability to take and bear risk?
Being in the industry as an actress, I think you have to take risks to stand out. When I first started acting, I was afraid to take a risk. I tried to follow a certain path, but then I learned by watching some of my favorite actors that it’s OK to take risks because it gives you more self-confidence, purpose and I think it makes you more unique because you are not just like everyone else.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I had the honor of playing a young Julia Roberts (Martha Mitchell) on the TV series “Gaslit” streaming on Starz and have been blessed to be in several films including “My Melancholy Baby” on Amazon Prime as well as the TV movie “Love’s Fast Lane” and feature films “Mama Bear,” “Roswell Delirium” with Anthony Michael Hall, Dee Wallace and Reginald VelJohnson and “Curse of Vandor.”
Since I started acting in 2020, I have been honored with 22 Best Actress Awards and five additional best acting nominations from local, national and international film festivals.
Most recently, I was nominated for four additional best acting awards by Young Artist Awards and Young Entertainer Awards for my work in “Gaslit” and the independent film “Bombay Beach.”
I am incredibly grateful for these amazing recognitions. I have also been a recurring guest star on the popular Dhar Mann web series, which is designed to inspire people around the world with inspirational stories.
Along with acting, I am a singer and competitive diver who reached junior-Olympic status on the 1-meter diving board. When not working, I enjoy giving back. I served as keynote speaker for the 33rd annual Walk Against Drugs in 2021 and for a Red Cross LA fundraiser. I also took part in the Joyful Child Foundation’s “Be Brave” pilot episode.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I think the most important qualities are passion, perseverance and purpose. You have to be passionate about the work and anything you do in life. Perseverance is a must in this insanely competitive industry because it’s full of rejection and you need to have thick skin. I think purpose is also important because it helps to guide you in your life journey and career path.
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents have done is to believe in me and support my dreams. I have always wanted to be an actress and it’s a difficult path to take — one that requires a lot of support and sacrifice by my parents. They have been incredibly supportive and encouraging and that means the world to me.
