We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kayla Aguirre a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kayla, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
I love this question for so many reasons but mostly because confidence and self-esteem is something I work on everyday. In the past I would constantly put my self down, say harsh things to myself and compare myself to others but over the last few years I’ve really prioritized myself and done a lot of work on my self love. I’ve used workbooks and really dived into affirmations and positive self talk. I think these are the key things that have gotten me to where I am today with my confidence and self esteem.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I was born, raised and currently reside in sunny Arizona with my long time boyfriend and our pup Three. While I work in the medical field full time I’ve always had a creative side to me and love expressing myself through social media. I mostly focus my content creation on my everyday life weather it be outfits, home decor, events going on in my life or my travels. While I’m a big fan of the over the top scripted luxury content I really want others to be able to relate to me and I think that’s what my purpose is on social media so be ready cause you just found your Pisces bestie. ♡
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I think three key things to take into consideration when venturing out on a content creation journey is first off to stay true to your self when deciding on what to post. Second, to not stress over numbers, everyone’s journey looks different so don’t be so hard on yourself. Lastly don’t be afraid to ask for advice or help from others and take the time to do research when wanting to learn or try new things.
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
Im guilty of over loading my plate so it’s not uncommon for me to become overwhelmed in doing so. First off I’m big on creating lists to help avoid getting overwhelmed and to keep me focused. Weather it be a list of tasks I need to get done or a list of cleaning projects I need to get done you can be as specific as you want and structure it to what you feel will help you best.
When I do hit the point of feeling overwhelmed I ask for help which has been a huge thing for me to get to but I’ve realized I don’t have to do everything on my own and I’m lucky enough to have people that are willing to help me when I need it. I also may just take a moment in silence to gather myself and re-prioritize the things that I need to get done.
