Meet Kayla Banks

We were lucky to catch up with Kayla Banks recently and have shared our conversation below.

Kayla , thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?

Being the only one in the room has never made me feel smaller — it’s reminded me that there’s only one me. I’ve learned to lead with that confidence and let my light shine, regardless of who’s around or what the room looks like. My presence, perspective, and voice are unique, and that’s my power. Instead of blending in, I focus on standing out with authenticity and purpose.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’m a content creator, entrepreneur, and storyteller behind the Kay Banks brand — a space that celebrates fashion, beauty, and lifestyle through confidence, self-love, and authenticity. What makes my work special is its realness; I started by sharing my looks online, and it grew into a platform that inspires women to embrace their bodies and their stories.

What excites me most is the impact — knowing that something I share can remind another woman she’s worthy and powerful as she is. Right now, I’m expanding into new lifestyle and foodie series across Arizona and creating resources to help other creators grow with confidence and turn passion into purpose.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are confidence, consistency, and connection. Confidence allowed me to show up fully as myself — even when I wasn’t sure how I’d be received. Consistency helped me grow when no one was watching, and connection reminded me that building genuine relationships can open doors that talent alone can’t.

For anyone early in their journey, my advice is to start where you are and keep showing up. Don’t wait to feel “ready” — growth happens in motion. Pour into your craft, stay authentic, and understand that your uniqueness is your superpower. The right people and opportunities will align when you stay true to that.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Absolutely! I’m always open to collabs — especially with brands and creators in fashion, beauty, and lifestyle, as well as local businesses here in Arizona. Phoenix is growing fast, and I love being part of that movement by highlighting the people, places, and stories that make our community special.

I’m passionate about creating content that feels authentic and uplifting while helping businesses connect with new audiences. Anyone interested in partnering can reach out via Instagram @helloimkaybanks or email [email protected]
