Meet Kayla Course

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kayla Course a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Kayla, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

Honestly, I feel like my purpose found me. When I gave God my full “yes,” everything began to shift. I wasn’t searching for a platform or a spotlight, I was simply focused on growing in my faith and becoming more disciplined. In one of the hardest seasons of my life, after so much loss and heartbreak, I made a decision to create a sacred space, a place where I could meet with God daily. That place became my prayer closet.

It was in the stillness of that closet that I started to heal, and naturally, I began sharing pieces of that journey. I called it “Kloset Conversations with Kay.” What started as personal content turned into a source of encouragement for women who saw themselves in my story. From there, a beautiful community formed, women hungry for connection, healing, and growth.

Now here I am, in 2025, launching a podcast to continue that mission. Kloset Conversations with Kay Podcast is more than a podcast, it’s a space for hope, for encouragement, and for showing women what true restoration looks like.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m a twin mom to two beautiful girls, originally from Mississippi, and I’ve been living in the DFW area for the past four years. I’m the founder and host of Kloset Conversations with Kay, a faith-based platform and growing community created to give women hope, encouragement, and a space for real restoration. People often ask me, “How did you get on fire for Christ like this?” And my answer will always be, my brokenness.
It was my lowest moments that pushed me into purpose. In 2024, I experienced unimaginable pain, losing my 20-year-old brother, who was brutally murdered, and just two months later, my grandmother who raised me to stage 4 cancer. At the same time, I was leading a Christian women’s community who still needed me. I kept showing up. I still hosted Bible study calls. I still led events. I still prayed, cried, and encouraged women, while my own world was falling apart.
That season taught me what it means to be anchored in God. And now, I’m ready to share my full testimony.
This year, in 2025, I’ve launched the Kloset Conversations with Kay podcast, where I continue this mission by having real, raw, and faith-filled conversations that help women find God in their own hard seasons. This isn’t just a podcast, it’s a movement. A safe space for women to heal, grow, and remember that their story doesn’t end in pain.
We’re also expanding the Kloset Conversations community with upcoming live events, virtual workshops, and more ways for women to connect and be poured into. My heart is to remind every woman that no matter how broken life may feel, restoration is still possible and it’s beautiful.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, the three most important qualities that shaped my journey have been faith, resilience, and obedience.

Faith was my foundation. I couldn’t see the full picture, and I definitely didn’t have all the answers, but I chose to believe God anyway. For anyone starting out, I encourage you to build your faith like a muscle, spend time with God daily, even if it’s just in stillness. That connection will carry you when everything else feels uncertain.

Resilience kept me standing. Life hit me hard, more than once but I didn’t let the pain define me. I used it to push forward. If you’re early in your journey, understand that setbacks will come. Don’t fear them, face them. Let them refine you, not break you.

Obedience changed everything. When God told me to start Kloset Conversations with Kay Podcast, I had every reason to delay. I was grieving, I was uncertain, but I still said yes. That simple “yes” led to something bigger than I could have imagined. My advice: when God gives you instruction, move, even if you’re scared, even if it doesn’t make sense yet. Your obedience opens doors your strength never could.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

Yes, I am absolutely looking for women and like-minded individuals to partner and collaborate with! My heart is to build a strong community of women who are passionate about faith, healing, and empowerment. I’m always open to collaborations with women who want to speak on the Kloset Conversations with Kay platform, whether that’s through interviews, speaking at events, or simply sharing their story to inspire others.
If you’re someone who wants to get connected, share your experiences, or have a message that aligns with encouraging and restoring women, I’d love to have you join the community. You can connect with me directly through my social media platforms or by reaching out via my website.
In addition to speaking and events, we also welcome donations and support from those who want to give back. Any contributions go toward helping more women connect with the resources and support they need. Whether it’s financial donations or offers of time and service, everything helps us to continue making a difference in the lives of women in our community.
If you’re reading this and feel led to partner or collaborate, whether through the podcast, events, or community outreach, please reach out. Let’s walk together in purpose and support each other in growing, healing, and shining. [email protected]
