Meet Kayla Hamilton

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kayla Hamilton. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Kayla, thank you so much for joining us today. There are so many topics we could discuss, but perhaps one of the most relevant is empathy because it’s at the core of great leadership and so we’d love to hear about how you developed your empathy?

Growing up my continual example from my parents, whether spoken, or by showing, was the idea that everyone on this earth experiences life differently, and through a different lens. My dad, a first grade teacher, constantly reminded me that it was of utmost importance to love people, no matter how different they were from me. He’d share this with me through storytelling or just day to day conversation, but it was solidified in my life as I continually saw him and my mom living it out.
Now, as a mother myself, I am always reminding my children that people desire to be loved and valued, despite their differences, and just as my parents did for me, I choose to live with this kind of empathy in my day to day life as well.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Hi there!
My name is Kayla! I am a mom of 3, a wife to 1 (haha!), and I run an Instagram account called Ohio Coffee Blog.
Ohio Coffee Blog came to be in March of 2020, one week before the COVID shutdown. I began this page solely because I felt like my friends and family were tired of seeing the influx of coffee shop photos I posted on my social media pages. It turned into a passion project and creative outlet quickly, and I have loved doing it for the last five years. Coffee is genuinely one of my greatest passions. I love it for many reasons, one of them being that it brings people together. Through my IG account I have gotten the opportunity to meet so many incredible people. I also love coffee because it is truly an art. Everything from bean to cup and in between is a labor of love and craftsmanship!
And lastly, my IG page is a way for me to be a local hype girl for any coffee or bake shop! I love supporting local and telling others about the incredibly high quality places we have around Ohio!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

The greatest lesson social media has taught me is the power of authentic connection. Without genuine relationships, the online world can easily lose its meaning and feel empty.
Another area that’s played a huge role in my success is my deep passion and understanding of coffee. It helps me recognize quality and share places that genuinely deserve the spotlight.
Lastly, I’ve learned the importance of kindness and assuming the best in others. It’s a mindset that has served me well. Life’s too short to jump to conclusions—especially on social media. I’ve seen how easily misunderstandings can happen, so I always try to lead with empathy and assume positive intent.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

I truly enjoy collaborating with others. My goal is always to create meaningful connections and support their brand, with a special focus on all things coffee. If interested in working together, please email me at [email protected]
