Meet Kayla Jones

Developing confidence is a trait I believe we all continue to struggle with. We never want to give ourselves enough credit for our talents and abilities. This is where self-esteem comes into play. We have to recognize our worth through our talents and abilities and give credit where credit is due.

I have learned over these last 20 years that failure can be your greatest asset in developing your own confidence and self-esteem. The misconception is that failure is bad or that if you fail you have no worth. I am here to tell you my friends, failure is the strongest and most epic building block for my success today. I still have my moments of failure today, but I know my worth now. I know that no matter what life throws at me, I will learn from that failure and come out stronger in the end. I live each day as a lesson, a learning curve to the next. I am that friend, who speaks encouragement and will drop everything to give advice to the next. I am confident in encouraging others with a sense of purpose in knowing I just paid it forward to the next entrepreneur who has their own list of struggles.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

My name is Kayla and I am the owner and creator of Kayla’s Unique Eye, LLC. The specialty of my company is photography, especially in artistic landscape style images. I do not limit myself to just one genre of photography, as the challenge of each style intrigues me and allows me a chance to expand on my trade. My photography portfolio is diverse, due to this aspect of not limiting my talents, and includes weddings, events, portraits, abstract and real estate.

Kayla’s Unique Eye, LLC goes deeper than just photography. I have published a coffee table book called Unique Vision that showcases my photographs along with inspirational components that help build a passion inside each reader for art and self-discovery. Unique Vision also teaches readers how each photo was captured so that future and growing photographers can understand the dynamics within the settings of the camera. But wait there’s more, I am releasing a new book in January 2024 called Her Powerful Voice which is going to inspire more readers to find themselves and to never give up.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

In the journey of discovering and building Kayla’s Unique Eye, LLC many qualities and skills have been obtained and recognized. The most important quality was self-confidence. We all tend to be our own worst critics and short ourselves of our own abilities. Learning how to receive feedback and praise from others and try things outside our comfort zone help build our own confidence in our work and talents. That is something that I can testify for during my many years of building this company. I find myself enjoying the journey of trying new skills and learning how to apply them to my established skills. Gaining greater confidence to speak in front of others and understanding that my abilities and talents are cherished by the people I speak with and share to.

The second quality that truly impacted my journey was dedication. Starting anything new is rough, and to be honest horrifying for fear of failing. Learning how to take each day as a fresh start and to remain dedicated to my vision, inspiring others, allowed for the scary and difficult days to not hold myself or my business back. Through the years, it has become apparent that failing is truly just a way to learn and grow through trial and error. Failing has taught me what works, does not work and closed doors to make way for better opportunities.

The final quality that is most impactful to my journey within Kayla’s Unique Eye is humility. It is easy to be good at something and have all the right doors open up at perfect times. Yet, staying humble and remembering where it all began helps to keep my passion alive and for my work to impact people who encounter it. When a wedding is photographed and a bride cries in joy at the memories and passion caught in the moment, it is humbling at the true impact of my work and vision. The bride will forever cherish the work regardless of how hard I was on myself. When a fellow veteran walks through the gallery and connects with a particular image, it brings a sense of connection and self-worth and reminds me that my work here is not finished. It humbles me that a vision of inspiring others and how the journey continues to inspire myself and my works.
