Meet Kayla Symone Price

We recently connected with Kayla Symone Price and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Kayla Symone , we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

I built my confidence and self-esteem based on my upbringing. My mother consistently reminded me and helped me realize that I am beautiful, intelligent, god-fearing, brave, unstoppable, and all those wonderful qualities. She nurtured my focus and purpose so that I would understand how I should feel about myself, even if I didn’t yet have a specific title or clear understanding of my life’s purpose.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I have many skills and crafts about me, but right now my main focus is on the sports industry, where I am leading anyone who is in alignment to live more Christ-like. This world is evolving and changing rapidly, and we must hold tightly to our integrity, extending grace and loving one another despite our faults, as we all fall short.

In the sports industry, we often get so caught up with the lights, camera, and actions—the god complexes of people looking up to others in a way that can be intimidating. I want to bring people back to the foundation and to where their gifts truly started, which is love. God is love, and we wouldn’t be where we are without Him.

My goal in life is greater than just becoming a great Athletic Director someday; it’s to be on a mission to serve God the right way.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in my journey are:

1. Self-Confidence and Self-Esteem:

Built through positive reinforcement and understanding one’s worth, this foundation empowered me to pursue my goals with assurance.

2. Faith and Spirituality:

My connection to faith has provided guidance, purpose, and resilience, especially in challenging times, helping me stay grounded and motivated.

3. Leadership and Service Orientation:

My desire to lead by example and serve others, especially within the sports industry and with a Christ-like focus, has driven my efforts to make a meaningful impact and stay aligned with my values.

My advice to anyone that’s early in there journey is: Pray About It, As Much As You Talk About It.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

I have a tribe of people from birth that I can thank, but at this moment in time, I would say my mother, who has laid the foundation and building blocks for me.

Most people wouldn’t mention their boss, but for me, Clifton Huff, Director of Athletics at Livingstone College, has opened doors for me and young talent in the sports industry and has significantly shaped my growth in leadership.
