We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kaysha Rajani a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kaysha, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
Giving gifts is my love language and I found my purpose in helping people build better relationships through gifting. I’ve always been the type of person who brings joy to others and looks for any occasion to celebrate. But when the pandemic hit, I started to think more about what brings me joy and how I could work that into my future career plans. I enjoyed the flexibility of working from home and wanted to take ownership of something I could nurture and grow while having a creative outlet.
During this time, sending gifts quickly became a popular way for people to bond with each other as they couldn’t meet in person. With canceled events and employees working remotely, I saw an opportunity for businesses to use strategic gifting to build relationships. But the options for corporate gifting seemed to be either branded swag or baskets of nuts and dried fruit – so I ventured out to create gifts filled with practical and unique items and presented them in aesthetic packaging for a high-quality, professional look. I also realized the value of being able to provide a service for businesses to outsource their gifting projects, so employees were not burdened with another demanding task.
Since the launch of my business, I have thought about the importance of building connections daily as gifts serve as tangible representations of our feelings towards others, allowing us to communicate anything from gratitude to apologies. My goal is for people to use the power of gifting to build relationships, recognize how important it is to show appreciation to others, and celebrate the wins in life.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m the Founder and Creative Director of Curated Giftables – a large-scale gifting service that specializes in creating custom gifts for businesses and events, primarily serving California’s Central Valley area.
I deliver gifts that are creatively designed to cater to each client’s specific needs including their brand, company culture, budget, occasion, or event theme. I’m actively engaged with every part of the business from client communication to designing and assembling gifts.
When I’m not sourcing gift products and tying bows, I love exploring new cities and cultures with my husband. Traveling is the best way for me to energize my creativity and find new gift inspiration.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
My background in marketing and communications, specifically project management, certainly provided a good foundation to step into the world of entrepreneurship. Meeting deadlines, managing customer expectations, and creative problem-solving are all skills that have migrated over from my previous experience into my business.
The power of networking is also a skill that has provided opportunities for my business to grow and I would advise other entrepreneurs to take advantage of making connections in their industry and community. Get out there and network, find a mentor, attend every event you’re invited to, and join professional and social organizations. Even if it pushes you outside your comfort zone! You never know who you will meet who could use your product or service (or they might know someone else to connect you with!)
How would you describe your ideal client?
My ideal client is someone who understands how strategic gifting can help build and strengthen relationships and they see value in investing in people and making them feel appreciated.
They prefer to outsource mass gifting projects and work with a partner who can act as an extension of their team to create modern, thoughtful gifts that are polished and professional.
As a bonus, an ideal client would recognize that gifting throughout the year can be more impactful than during the holiday season. A recent study showed that 94% of customers who received a “surprise and delight” gift or special recognition felt more positive about the company.
