Meet Kaytee Shashore

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kaytee Shashore a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Kaytee, so happy you were able to devote some time to sharing your thoughts and wisdom with our community. So, we’ve always admired how you have seemingly never let nay-sayers or haters keep you down. Can you talk to us about how to persist despite the negative energy that so often is thrown at folks trying to do something special with their lives?

Since I began my career in 2009, I faced my fair share of haters, nay-sayers, and doubters. When my father said I had dreams of grandeur, and that I should just stick to my day job in healthcare it was a challenging blow to my confidence as a 21-year-old woman with aspirations. Undeterred, I launched my online magazine, The Sexy Side of Colorado, on May 11th, 2009, despite being told that no one would read a magazine online. In just three weeks, I garnered thousands of views. The magazine and myself as a young CEO participated in numerous fashion shows in Colorado’s entertainment scene, and from 2010 to 2011, I was recognized as a local celebrity. I collaborated with countless celebrities, fashion professionals, editorial staff, and entertainers, including my very good friend Kingdom, a radio personality who became one of my greatest supporters. My ambition to realize my dreams fueled my perseverance despite skepticism. Proving everyone wrong, including my father, became my motivation. Fast forward to 2025, I am now a successful content creator, and my early days with TSSOC paved the way for my journey. This is my second magazine feature and that is a dream come true. I persisted because I believed in myself and my destiny for greatness. After having my daughter Ava in 2015, there was no turning back; it became essential for her to see that we can achieve anything we set our minds to. So I would love to dedicate this dream come true with my second magazine feature in honor of my daughter Ava. Mama loves you, baby girl! I also vowed to my mother, who passed in 2013, that one day we would celebrate my success on a yacht. Even in her absence, that promise keeps me moving forward.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

As a full-time content creator in 2025, I reflect on my journey with The Sexy Side of Colorado with fondness and gratitude. I am thankful for the lessons I learned as they helped mold my career as a content creator today. These days, I am passionately dedicated to crafting quality content for the incredible brands I’m privileged to work with. My focus spans all social media platforms, especially TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook. Being one of the early creators of TikTok Shop has opened doors for collaboration with amazing brands, allowing me to showcase my work through paid advertising. I am so thankful to Rachel McCord for getting me into TikTok Shop so early on. Thank you Rach incase you read this. One of my greatest joys is collaborating with my dear friend Denise Vasi and her beauty brand, Maed Beauty, which launched in Autumn 2024. As a VIP Maed Beauty, I am honored to create content that highlights her outstanding products. In under a year, Denise’s brand has earned three prestigious awards for her lip care line, a testament to her hard work and vision. Being a part of her journey and providing impactful feedback as she shapes her brand is a privilege that I cherish deeply. I am also incredibly grateful for the close-knit community we have in the VIP crew. I love you ladies so much. I know you all will read this and you root me on unwaveringly. Thank you all for being my village! This fall, exciting developments are on the horizon for Maed Beauty, and I am thrilled to be part of it. Stay tuned on my social media for what’s next! I also plan to continue to focus on my content with other incredible brands. While simultaneously developing new updates for my blog and website.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Three qualities that have contributed to my success are perseverance in the face of challenges, an exceptional work ethic, and a determination to learn from failures. I view failure as a stepping stone to improvement. I firmly believe in the power of self-belief and manifesting our dreams and desires. With focus and effort, we can achieve anything we set our minds to. Networking has opened doors I never imagined, thanks to the incredible friends I’ve made in the entertainment industry. Always be ready to connect with others; you never know where it might lead. Embrace discomfort, as true success comes from stepping outside your comfort zone. Enjoy the journey and celebrate every win, no matter the size. Take time to mourn losses, learn from them, and keep pushing forward. Never quit on your dreams.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?

I chose this question as my closing question in this interview because the book *Fabulousity* by Kimora Lee Simmons inspired me to chase after my dreams back in 2009. It truly transformed my life’s trajectory, and I would love the chance to personally thank Kimora one day for her impact on my life’s path. The most powerful insights I gained from her book were her fundamentals to success, which she called the “Grand Aspiration Theory”:

1. High aspirations breed frustration.
2. Frustration breeds motivation.
3. Motivation pushes to action—whether you take tiny baby steps or huge strides.
4. Action breeds confidence; you start to feel in control.
5. Confidence is cumulative: once you start acquiring it, you get more and more of it.
6. Soon enough, you prove to yourself that you’re a star who can overcome any obstacle and achieve whatever you desire in life.

I embraced her GAT throughout my career, and it has been instrumental in shaping me into the successful woman I am today. I also resonate deeply with her belief in never changing oneself to fit the status quo. Being my most authentic self has undeniably contributed to my success.
