Meet Kearra Porter

We were lucky to catch up with Kearra Porter recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Kearra , we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
My confidence was born in the bounce era — a season of rebuilding, rediscovering, and rebranding myself as both a woman and a visionary. After setbacks in business, motherhood, and personal identity, I had to bounce back — not with perfection, but with purpose.

Confidence didn’t come from always having it together. It came from showing up anyway — with a bonnet on, baby on my hip, and dreams still burning. I became my first client, styling my own crown until I could teach others how to wear theirs. I studied myself in the mirror until I stopped seeing flaws and started seeing fuel.

My self-esteem grew every time I chose action over anxiety, and purpose over pride. I found power in vulnerability, built systems from my struggles, and made beauty from breakdowns. The bounce era wasn’t pretty — but it was real. And that authenticity made me unstoppable.

Now, through Stylin Beauty Chic Services and my programs like The Confident Mom Crown System, I help other women turn their bounce back into breakthroughs
Reclaim Your Crown. Romanticize Your Routine.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m a proud and passionate community builder, beauty educator, and hair coach on a mission to help women—especially moms—reclaim their confidence from the inside out. My work began behind the chair, but it has evolved into something much deeper than hair. For me, beauty isn’t just about a style—it’s a form of healing, identity, and personal power.

As someone who’s walked through my own hair struggles and life transitions—including postpartum, burnout, and rebuilding—I know what it feels like to lose yourself and then fight to feel whole again. That’s why I launched The Confident Mom Crown System, a free educational space for women navigating motherhood, trauma, or burnout who still want to feel beautiful and seen.

I specialize in working with all textures and hair circumstances—from breakage and damage to regrowth and routine-building—because I believe every crown deserves care, regardless of where someone is on their journey.

My brand is built on the values of healing, honesty, and soft power. I’m currently focused on expanding into digital products and online community education that make beauty more accessible and empowering for everyday women. Whether it’s a silk press, a journal prompt, or a confidence class—I’m here to help women glow through what they go through.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
1. Staying Rooted in Vision From beauty school until now, I’ve always seen the value in round brushing—even when others didn’t. While many of my classmates overlooked it, I stayed committed because I saw not just style, but structure, results, and longevity in that technique. I didn’t let outside doubt shake my internal vision.
2. Resilience in the Face of Rejection
This journey came with plenty of “no’s,” doubt, and moments that hurt. But I kept going. Rejection actually helped refine me. It pushed me to perfect my craft, understand what made my technique unique, and now lead others with experience, not ego.
3. A Deep Love for Community Over Competition
I don’t want to just be a hairstylist—I want to build a movement. That’s why I’m creating the Round Brush Mastery community for new creative cosmetologists who are serious about building a solid foundation. Not just to learn a skill—but to master one that will set them apart.

Advice:
Stay true to what you see—even if no one else sees it yet. Build mastery in the things others overlook. And don’t be afraid to lead with love, even in an industry full of noise. Your consistency will turn your calling into a career and a community.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I’m currently looking to connect with beauty educators, lifestyle brands, salon professionals, and women-led platforms who share a passion for confidence, healing, education, and haircare that serves all textures and all journeys.

Whether you’re a brand seeking authentic representation, a fellow educator with a heart for service, or a creative ready to build something that blends beauty + belief—I’d love to build with you.

I’m especially passionate about partnerships that empower:
• New and aspiring cosmetologists
• Moms in the beauty industry
• Creators looking to launch digital products or educational programs
• Communities that need safe, faith-filled spaces to grow
