We recently connected with Keasel Broome Jr and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Keasel , appreciate you sitting with us today. Maybe we can start with a topic that we care deeply about because it’s something we’ve found really sets folks apart and can make all the difference in whether someone reaches their goals. Self discipline seems to have an outsized impact on how someone’s life plays out and so we’d love to hear about how you developed yours?
For me, self-discipline comes from being in a position of power or influence. If I want to be a great leader I have to be able to stay consistent and discipline in my actions every day. If I don’t then my team or people that look up to me take that example and think it’s ok to do the same thing.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I run a sales and marketing company in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, called Edmeston & Evans inc. We work with fortune 100 clients driving sales and expanding new markets across the United States. What I love about my business is I have the opportunity to change people’s lives in more ways than one. I’m excited for new individuals to come into my business and my team gets to work with them to develop new skill sets, learn new things and we build a genuine bond as co workers that turns into family. The logo, name and color of the company all hold significant meaning to me. The name Edmeston and Evans are family names. My dad middle name and my moms maiden name. The trident flipped on its side E, is from the Barbados flag as to where my dad side of the family is from. I also played for the Barbados national soccer team so it holds a special place in my heart. The color black and old gold have nothing to do with Pittsburgh but everything to do with my fraternity that I am in. Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated. We have some cool opportunities coming on the horizon in terms of working with our clients in a new sales channel that we’re super excited about that we will be looking for good candidates soon.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Three qualities that were most impactful to me are, resiliency, passionate, consistent. Life is going to knock you down. Things are not going to go your way. How we keep moving forward and our mentality behind it will dictate how successful we are at life and in business. If we’re not passionate about what we’re doing, why do it at all? I want to give my best to my team and people but if I’m not passionate about it won’t be my best and they won’t take anything away from it. Consistent actions will lead to consistent results. Inconsistent actions will lead to inconsistent results and a roller coaster of emotions.
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me were three things. 1. Teach me the value of hard work and never quitting. 2. How to stretch a dollar. 3 Go after your dreams no matter what.
