Meet Keirsten Hoyle

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Keirsten Hoyle a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Keirsten, thank you so much for joining us and offering your lessons and wisdom for our readers. One of the things we most admire about you is your generosity and so we’d love if you could talk to us about where you think your generosity comes from.
My generosity comes from my mother, Janice Anderson Hoyle. Hands down, I couldn’t even think of another answer if I tried. My mom was the most generous person I have had the privilege to know and love in my lifetime. She was an educator for over 20 years, loved and supported her family, and had a heart taller than her 5-foot frame. She was always focused on helping people in every way she could.

She passed away in 2017 when I was 23 years old. I was truly devastated because I lost a parent, best friend, and the woman I looked up to the most. One of my mom’s favorite devotional books was “Jesus Calling” by Sarah Young. She carried that book with her on our family road trips, to church, doctor’s appointments, and everywhere else. In this book, she kept a list of prayers for herself, our family, and others. When I wanted to feel close to her, I would read through her notes and prayers. She prayed for me to finish college a lot. One of the prayers she often repeated was to become a millionaire so that she could help others.

I have that same generous mindset, especially when it comes to my entrepreneurship journey. While most people think about how they will make money when starting a business, I started the Inner Success Movement with a focus on how I could help people. It was in my grief that I truly understood the value of inner peace in my life, which led me to share my experiences with others in hopes of helping them on their life journey.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am Keirsten Hoyle, the Founder of the Inner Success Movement, a Certified Pilates Instructor, and Breath Coach. I am a Spiritual Wellness Entrepreneur who serves at the intersection of Faith and Wellness. The Inner Success Movement is a community that creates spaces to dismantle “church hurt” and aid others on their journey to spiritual growth and inner peace. I am a Club Pilates Instructor in Washington, DC, and I teach pop-up Spiritual R&B Mat Pilates classes.

I founded the Inner Success Movement in 2020 shortly after hosting the first Inner Peace Retreat. I hosted a 3-day Virtual Retreat centered around the Journey to Inner Peace where I discussed topics such as Grief & Healing, Self-Talk, and Priceless Peace. That retreat led to creating an e-commerce store to showcase our company mantra “Inner Peace is the Real Success.” Now, we are known for our InnerxSuccess Podcast and our annual Inner Peace Retreats hosted in Washington, DC. We curate spaces that provide tools to help others grow in spiritual maturity through panel discussions with thought leaders, Meditation, and Rest Practice.

I teach Spiritual R&B Pilates, an Open level Mat Pilates class that mixes Classical and Contemporary Pilates-style workouts and stretching. As a Certified Breath Coach, I also incorporate breathing exercises into the class to help you balance your nervous system before, after, and during movement. We have a curated playlist that showcases spiritual rhythm & blues tunes to help provide a vibe that yields peacefulness, calmness, and motivation.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three most important qualities that have been pivotal in my journey are Faith, Consistency, and Self-Discipline. Faith has been a firm foundation in my life, instilled in me from a young age. Regardless of life’s ups and downs, my relationship with God is the most important thing to me. The scripture that reflects this the most for me is “For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God” (Romans 8:14).

Consistency is a true life hack. When you have desires in your heart in any area of your life, being consistent in working towards that thing will yield results. Being consistent with prayer, meditation, and studying the word has deepened my relationship with God. In 2021, I reignited my fitness journey with a 90-day fitness challenge that resulted in a 50-pound weight loss and introduced me to Pilates. Your Day 1 will not be the same as Day 100, but consistent change and actualization are your superpowers.

Self-Discipline is something we all struggle with. I also believe that your discipline is what will set you apart from the rest. Though it may be something we do not “feel” like doing or maybe even something we do not “want” to do, it ends up being necessary for us to achieve the desires of our hearts. The benefits of discipline for me have been boundaries, time management, and obedience in my life’s purpose.

My advice for someone looking to improve or ignite these qualities in their own personal journey is simply to begin. Once you start, you can only continue to build from there. Remember to give yourself grace the most and hold yourself accountable first. You are already the person that you dream about; you just have to keep becoming them.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
Whew! The last 12 months have been mind-blowing in so many beautiful ways. My biggest area of growth has been diving deeper into my God-given gifts. A year ago, I had desires to become a Pilates Instructor, a Meditation Guide, and a Breath Coach. I have obtained certifications and studied deeper into areas that were once solely a personal practice for me. The most powerful part of the journey has been to “OWN IT,” which is a little different from just knowing what you are good at. I have had so many moments where things I prayed for became a reality, and the surreal feeling makes you forget just how far you have come at times.

Seven years ago, I was a heartbroken young woman who questioned God about why she had lost her Mom as a young adult and was unsure how she could ever be restored from her brokenness. Today, my story of grief has helped push me towards helping others and has helped me grow spiritually. Three years ago, I was over 200 lbs and made choices to be consistent with fitness and better eating habits. Now, I am 50 lbs lighter, a vegetarian, and I help others in their fitness journeys. Four years ago, I meditated for the first time during the pandemic. This is now a daily practice for me to be still, and through meditation is where I hear God’s voice and gain instruction and direction. I have guided people in meditation and breathwork practices virtually and in-person. I cannot wait to see what the next 12 months have in store. Each day is an opportunity to become more of me.
