We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Keisha L. Blair a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Keisha L., so good to have you with us today. We’ve got so much planned, so let’s jump right into it. We live in such a diverse world, and in many ways the world is getting better and more understanding but it’s far from perfect. There are so many times where folks find themselves in rooms or situations where they are the only ones that look like them – that might mean being the only woman of color in the room or the only person who grew up in a certain environment etc. Can you talk to us about how you’ve managed to thrive even in situations where you were the only one in the room?
Being the only one in the room is not new to me — it’s been my reality for most of my 30-year career. I started as an electrician when it wasn’t just rare — it was almost unheard of for a woman, especially a Black woman, to be on the jobsite, let alone running one. But instead of shrinking, I learned how to own the room. I’ll be honest: most days I barely noticed I was “the only one.” My focus locked on doing the job—efficiently, safely, and at a level nobody could question. If someone pointed out the obvious, it usually caught me off-guard. I wasn’t chasing acceptance; I was chasing excellence.
That mindset became my edge. I refused to wait for a rung to appear on the corporate ladder—I climbed anyway, even when someone ahead of me knocked the rung off. That’s how my mantra was born:
Don’t stop—keep climbing.
No detours, no pity parties, no “Plan B.” If there was no seat for me, I’d sit on the floor—or on the table—until my voice was heard. When the table didn’t exist, I built it. Sometimes literally (30 years as an electrician comes in handy).
Now, when I coach technicians, tradeswomen, and leaders, I lay it out straight:
Expect doubters. Their “you can’t” only matters if you agree.
Own your craft. Mastery neutralizes bias quicker than debates ever will.
Bring your ladder. Missing rungs? Improvise. The climb is non-negotiable.
Because the only person who can shut the door on your success is you—and I don’t do closed doors. I wire them open.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m Keisha L. Blair—electrician by trade, leader by resilience, and now the CEO of a movement. After spending 30 years in the skilled trades, becoming the first woman to hold a senior maintenance leadership role at a Fortune 500 company, I stepped into entrepreneurship with one mission: to help people become the CEO of their life.
Through my coaching, workshops, and podcast Alpha Intuition, I teach people how to align their energy, time, and purpose using my CEO Mindset framework—Create, Eliminate, Organize. I focus on time management, leadership development, and emotional clarity, especially for those in technical or male-dominated industries. My work is rooted in high-frequency communication—because how we manage our energy determines how we manage our outcomes.
What’s exciting right now is that I’m launching the Crafting Careers That Build Tour, taking the message of AI-resistant careers and skilled trades into high schools to help students see their value beyond the traditional college path. I’m also working on a book, a masterclass series, and expanding corporate training for maintenance leaders and technicians who are ready to level up and learn how to lead beyond their toolbelt.
What set my journey apart is that its more than just a story, its my own personal experiences. I’m not just sharing theory, I’m sharing what I’ve lived. I’ve climbed ladders ( laterally an figuratively), I’ve raised four children as a single mom, and rebuilt myself after corporate burnout. Now I use that same tenacity to coach others into alignment, balance, and next-level impact.
Whether I’m speaking on stage, teaching a workshop, or mentoring one-on-one, my message stays the same:
Don’t stop. Keep climbing.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, three of the most impactful qualities in my journey have been organization, emotional intelligence, and time management.
Organization is my superpower. I don’t just like systems—I live by them. Planning, scheduling, and streamlining are part of my DNA. That level of structure has helped me lead teams, manage chaos, and stay focused even in high-pressure environments.
Emotional intelligence allows me to stay level-headed and lead with clarity. I’m a certified Extreme Execution coach, and I use the DISC assessment to help people understand who they are, manage their emotions, and navigate their relationships—personally and professionally.
Time management isn’t just about checking boxes; it’s about aligning your actions with your energy. That’s why I developed the CEO Mindset: Create, Eliminate, Organize. It’s a framework to help people prioritize what matters, cut the noise, and operate at a higher frequency.
If you’re early in your journey, here’s my advice:
Get clear on how you’re wired. Understand your strengths and triggers, so you can show up with intention instead of reaction. Build systems that support your growth—and don’t wait until you’re overwhelmed to get organized. Most importantly, stay committed. You don’t have to be perfect—just consistent.
Don’t stop. Keep climbing.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
Hands down, the book that has had the most profound impact on my personal and spiritual development is Project 369 (Scripture Edition). I began reading it during Ramadan this year. I chose to participate in the fast alongside my son, who is Muslim, as a way to support him on his journey. As a Christian, it was a powerful spiritual experience for me as well. During Ramadan, you abstain from all food and drink from sunup to sundown, and on the third day, I hit a wall. I wasn’t sure I could make it through the rest of the month. Thirty days felt like a mountain, and I was only at the base.
That evening, in a moment of exhaustion and weakness, I picked up Project 369, a book that had been sitting untouched on my shelf for nearly six months. From the first few pages, something shifted. I discovered that the mind can’t fully hold two dominant thoughts at once. As I focused on reading, I was no longer consumed by hunger. I was being fed spiritually. The hunger pains faded—not because I ate, but because I was absorbed by faith, reflection, and scripture.
What stood out most was the power of the phrase “I Am.” Through this book, I realized that those two words are more than self-identifiers—they are divine declarations. They connect me to my Creator. For the first time, I saw myself the way God created me to be: whole, powerful, and deeply loved. I embraced the truth that I am Him, and He is me, and we are one. That shift in perspective anchored me, and I became incredibly intentional about every word that followed “I Am.” I understood that I wasn’t just speaking over my life—I was speaking in alignment with the One who made me in His image.
This book reminded me of Philippians 4:13—“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”—which, for me, is the foundation of my personal mantra: Don’t stop. Keep climbing.
Project 369 gave me the clarity, strength, and spiritual discipline I needed to complete the entire 30-day fast without wavering. It also gave me a deeper understanding of who I am and who God is within me. That experience wasn’t just transformative—it was foundational. It reminded me that when the spirit is strong, the body follows. And when the mind is aligned with truth, anything becomes possible.
