We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Keisha Stewart. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Keisha below.
Hi Keisha, you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?
My generosity comes from working twenty-one years at Prisma Health (Greenville Hospital System). Helping people that were suffering from physical or mental illness made we want to uplift people. Ten of those years working there were in the Children’s hospital. During this time, I became very close to children and families. It taught me how to respect people from different backgrounds and their way of thinking. Also, it showed me to be more compassionate and generous to people that were in hard situations.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am Keisha Stewart, the founder and Executive Director of Infinite Possibilities, Inc. Also, the founder and CEO of DJ Kels. Infinite Possibilities, Inc is a nonprofit organization that provides services for children and their families that are displaced or vulnerable to displacement. Our holistic family model helps families by, empowering parents to become independent in fostering family stability, providing the necessary support for families at risk of being unsheltered, providing subsistence services for families in order to increase the quality of life, and helping families maintain financial security. It is very exciting and my purpose on earth to support children with self-esteem building, support through hardships, giving them resources to be successful when they grow up. In order to achieve these goals, providing resources to their parents is very important. Our organization makes sure to build a relationship with their parents so that we can be impactful for the family as a whole. Our vision is equitable and sustainable quality of life for South Carolina. We currently are community partners with United Way/OnTrack Greenville and able to provide our services to 6 schools in Greenville County. Our current goal is to be able to provide our services to all Greenville County students.
DJ Kels is a professional DJ service that caters to all genres and events. Specializing in weddings, birthday parties, conferences, festivals, and other special events. I have a strong passion for music. I have always loved music as long as I can remember. It gives me so much joy to provide music at special events and see the excitement it brings. Music is very therapeutic it makes people happy! Music uplifts, inspires, and is the life of any event! DJ Kels is a mobile DJ service that travels and is growing. DJ Kels welcomes new customers every day to provide a delightful music experience.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
When I look back at my journey for both of my businesses, faith is the most important quality that helped me accomplish my goals. I always knew at a young age that I wanted to be an entrepreneur. I can remember praying to God to show me what business endeavor should I pursue. Helping people and the love for music were two things I always really enjoyed. I never realized at the time that it was something I would pursue professionally, because it was so natural to me. The next quality that I have learned to embrace is following your passion. If something makes you really happy, follow it and give your all to it. Lastly, dedication would be a quality that has been very impactful on my journey. It takes a lot of work to accomplish your goals. Giving your all to what you want to achieve. You have to stay focus, well-organized, and dedicate your all.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
With Infinite Possibilities, Inc I am looking to partner with businesses and professionals that are passionate about helping children and their families that lack financial stability. I would like to design more programs that teach parents how budget their money, affordable childcare, and elevate themselves. Also, programs that provide support to children as they grow up, such as collaborating with mentors, tutoring, and economic programs.
With DJ Kels I would like to partner with more businesses and professionals that have conferences or events where music and sound is needed. Also, I want to collaborate with bands or artist that have concerts. I would like to expand my DJ services to be part of large events.
