Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Keisha Williams. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Keisha, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

For me, it is still a journey! My person goal is to do more and more of what brings me joy. That is the pathway for me to keep discovering and growing in understanding my purpose.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

My name is Keisha Williams. I am first-generation Jamaican American. I am a lawyer, a former educator, tennis enthusiast, and a mom who has always believed that the most important stories are the ones that show you something is possible before you ever thought to try.

When my 2-year old son Cosmo came along, storytime became my favorite part of the day and the place where this whole adventure really began.

After reading countless picture books together, I kept feeling like something was missing. I wanted a story that would tell Cosmo what every child needs to hear: that you can do anything you put your mind to, that falling down is part of the journey, and just because you have never seen it does not mean you cannot be it. So I sat down and wrote the story I wanted to read to my son.

That story became Purple Panda Learns to Ride a Bike, my very first picture book and the first in the Purple Panda Adventures series. It is a charming, rhyming picture book about courage, perseverance, and trying something you’ve never seen done before. But just as much, it is about friendship and community and the people who cheer for you while you figure it out.

I also founded Magical Cosmic Tales, LLC which is a publishing company named for my son Cosmo, and I look forward to creating whimsical and encouraging stories from the comfort of my home in Silver Spring, Maryland.

I hope that every child and caregiver who reads my books walks away not just having visited a magical world but knowing deep down that they are the magic.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Resilience, embracing growth, and asking for help! I am brand new to writing children’s books and there was and is a lot that I am learning. Continuing to move forward despite the roadblocks, embracing the endless opportunity for growth and asking for help have been central to my journey.

You can achieve your dreams as long as you keep going and keep trying!

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I would love to collaborate with marketing, sales, and children’s book industry professionals! Bringing my book to the masses and helping to infuse more joy and love into the world through my book, Purple Panda Learns to Ride a Bike, would be awesome.
