Meet Kelcy Ncube

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kelcy Ncube. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Kelcy, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

my work ethic comes from a mix of my upbringing and my passion for what I do. Growing up, I watched my family work hard to create opportunities for themselves, and that really stuck with me. But honestly, a lot of it comes from this fire I have inside me to succeed and make my dreams a reality. I’m the type of person who believes if you want something, you’ve got to go out there and grab it. Whether it’s late nights in the studio or early mornings planning my next move, I thrive on the hustle. Plus, I genuinely love what I do—creating, performing, connecting with people—it’s what keeps me energized and motivated to push through any challenge

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

Hi there I’m Kelcy but I go by my stage name Kelci. I’m a rapper from Ipswich, and I’m on a mission to engrave my name in the rap game. Music has always been my passion, and I pour my heart into every lyric and beat. I want my music to connect with people on a deep level, whether it’s inspiring them to keep pushing or just giving them something to vibe to.

Recently, I’ve been expanding my horizons and stepping into modelling and acting roles, which has been such an exciting journey. I’ve started getting gigs through platforms like Backstage, and it’s opened up new opportunities for me to showcase my creativity in different ways.

On the music front, I just released my latest track, Disobedience, which is all about staying true to yourself and pushing past the negativity. I even shot a video for it on the NoStatus YouTube page, and the feedback has been incredible. Performing live is another huge part of what I do, I love getting on stage and feeling the energy from the crowd. Every gig is a chance to connect with people and share my art in the rawest form.

For me, it’s all about growth and making an impact, whether it’s through my music, my performances, or these new ventures in acting and modelling. I’m excited for what’s ahead, and I’m determined to keep building something special with my brand and artistry. Stay tuned, there’s so much more to come!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, I’d say the three most impactful qualities in my journey have been resilience, creativity, and self-belief.

First, resilience has been key. There are always going to be challenges and setbacks, but it’s about bouncing back stronger every time. I’ve had to learn how to push through the tough moments and keep going, even when things don’t go as planned.

Second, creativity has played a huge role, not just in my music but in everything I do. Whether it’s writing lyrics, crafting a performance, or thinking outside the box for new opportunities, staying creative has helped me stand out and keep evolving.

And lastly, self-belief is crucial. There will always be people who doubt you or try to discourage you, but you have to trust in your own vision and abilities. Believing in yourself is what fuels you to keep going, even when things get tough.

For anyone starting their journey, my advice would be to never stop learning. You don’t have to have it all figured out right away. Be open to new experiences, take risks, and learn from every opportunity. Also, surround yourself with people who support and inspire you—the right team can make all the difference.

Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?

One of the biggest challenges I’m currently facing is balancing university, work, and studio time with the team. It can be pretty tough because everything is spread out across different locations, university is in Ipswich, the studio is in London, and my work is in Essex. The distance makes it hard to manage everything effectively, especially when I also need to find time to read for assignments and study for exams. It’s a constant juggling act, but I’m learning how to prioritise and manage my time better.
