We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kelley Gatling. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kelley below.
Kelley , appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
I keep my creativity alive by always looking for fun, new ways to connect with my followers! As a six-year-old superstar and Instagram influencer, I love sharing big adventures through my photos. I challenge myself to capture moments that are exciting and different—like trying a new pose, finding the best light, or showing my favorite places. Staying curious and having fun keeps my creativity fresh, and my followers get to join me on every adventure!
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m a 6-year-old child with big dreams and a passion for making a difference. Growing up as one of seven kids, I’m blessed with an incredible support system, and I feel I was chosen to help my family and others by working hard, aiming high, and staying true to my purpose.
Family means everything to me. My parents, who I admire deeply, have always made sure we have love, even if we didn’t have everything else. Having a big family comes with support, but it also drives me to push myself further. I dream of seeing myself on the big screen, leading the world’s top fashion brands, and winning beauty pageants—I know in my heart I can do it all. But along with these dreams, I feel a responsibility to give back and help others.
That’s where our “Happy Hearts Organization” comes in. I want our organization to make a real difference for young kids by addressing bullying, supporting families with fewer resources, and providing much-needed mental health help. Unlike some other organizations, we aim to offer assistance without the hassle, truly making help accessible to those who need it most.
Being active on social media allows me to reach a wide audience and share what I love. For me, it’s not just a job but a calling, and it feels natural. With this platform, I can connect with people, stay focused on my mission, and work toward my dreams while helping others.
Alongside my dreams in entertainment and giving back, I’m thrilled to share two special projects I’m working on: my own doll line and a bracelet line. My doll line is all about inspiring self-love and confidence in kids, helping them see the beauty within themselves. My bracelet line, on the other hand, is designed to empower and uplift. Each bracelet is a reminder to stay strong, stay focused, be positive, and remember that you’re loved. These projects are close to my heart, and I can’t wait to see how they bring joy and encouragement to other kids.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are consistency, dedication, and determination. These traits have allowed me to keep moving forward, even when things get tough or uncertain. Consistency is about showing up every day, no matter what, and giving my best, whether in school, with family, or in my hobbies. Dedication means putting my heart into what I do and staying focused on what I believe in. And determination helps me push through challenges and not give up.
For anyone starting their journey, I’d say: focus on what makes you unique. Find your strengths and practice them, because building on what you’re good at gives you confidence to stay consistent. Dedication will come naturally when you care about what you’re doing, so choose things you love. And to build determination, remember that every challenge is a lesson. Even as a young kid, I know that my experiences—even the tough ones—help me grow and become better at what I do. There’s no perfect guide to life, but each day you get closer to the person you want to be.
To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me is that they always believed in us, no matter what. Growing up in a big family with seven kids, things were never easy, but my parents always made sure we knew that we were loved and supported. My mom sacrificed her dream job to homeschool us, and my dad worked hard, juggling two jobs to make sure we had everything we needed. But what stands out the most is their unwavering commitment to us and to each other. They taught us the true meaning of family. No matter how tough things got, we always knew we were in it together. They say it takes a village to raise a child, and my parents built their own village with love, strength, and support. I’m proud to be part of a family where we lift each other up, always. Their love and dedication are the biggest reasons why I’m who I am today.
