Meet Kelly Ann Gonzales-Dodd

We recently connected with Kelly Ann Gonzales-Dodd and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Kelly Ann, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.

When it comes to overcoming imposter syndrome, it’s been a journey of faith and grit for me.

As a mom to my two beautiful daughters in a blended family with my husband who is also an entrepreneur (Jeff Dodd of Final Cut Coffee), I grew up navigating the chaos of family dynamics,

I often felt like I wasn’t enough, especially with my C-PTSD whispering doubts from a chaotic childhood.

But leaning on prayer every day (even if for just a few minutes throughout the day and at meals), taking those deep breaths to ground myself, and reminding myself that God sees my worth, like in Psalm 139, helps me push past that.

I also find strength in my husband Jeff’s support and my ministry work, where connecting with others and sharing my story, whether it’s negotiating a pay rate or setting boundaries with tricky people, turned my fears into fuel, showing me I’ve earned my place through hard work and heart.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’m Kelly Ann Gonzales-Dodd, a faith-based writing and dating coach helping God’s people craft content and their love lives.

As a published author, editor, and creative entrepreneur, I guide writers through the process of telling powerful, purpose-driven stories—from first draft to polished manuscript.

I also work with Christian singles and couples to build God-centered relationships rooted in clarity, character, and Christ.

My own journey, from writing romance to finding real love and from New Age confusion to a Christ-led calling shapes the work I do today: offering practical guidance with spiritual depth.

Whether you’re stuck on your novel or your situationship, I’m here to help you move forward with truth, courage, and strategy.

Let’s co-create something beautiful.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, I’d say the three qualities that shaped my journey the most are my deep faith, my ability to connect with people, and my knack for staying organized under pressure.

God has always been my rock, even before I really knew Him. He was always guiding me through tough moments like setting boundaries with tricky people or pushing through freelancing stress, giving me a sense of purpose that keeps me going.

Connecting with others, whether it’s through ministry work or client calls, has opened doors and built relationships that lifted me up, especially when I needed support or a kind word.

And staying organized, like keeping track of my kids’ schedules, client projects, and personal goals, helps me turn chaos into progress, even when doubts crept in.

For those just starting out, I’d say lean into these with intention.

Trust in God and nurture your faith by setting aside quiet time each day to pray or reflect.

Jesus is your compass when life gets messy, and if You don’t know Him, He is knocking on your door, waiting for you to come to Him.

Build connection skills by listening more than you speak, reaching out to someone when they need a kind word or listening ear, and practicing empathy in small talks; it’s a muscle that grows with use.

And for organization, start with a simple planner or app to map out your days. Break tasks into bite-sized pieces and celebrate the wins, no matter how small.

Seek God’s guidance, and you’ll find your rhythm!

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?

My ideal client is someone who wants to go on a journey.

Ideally, someone with a heart for faith, a desire to grow, and a willingness to embrace both vulnerability and action.

I thrive working with Christian writers and creatives who are eager to craft purpose-driven stories, maybe feeling stuck on their first draft or longing to polish a manuscript with spiritual depth, much like I did when transitioning from empty romance novels to a Christ-led calling.

I also connect deeply with singles or couples seeking God-centered relationships, those who value clarity and character, perhaps navigating situationships or wanting to build love with courage, mirroring my own path from confusion to real love with Jeff.

These clients bring an open spirit, a readiness to trust the process, and a hunger for practical guidance blended with prayer, making our work together a beautiful co-creation rooted in truth and resilience.
