Meet Kelly Jansens Mensch

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kelly Jansens Mensch. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Kelly, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

I got my work ethic from my father. He immigrated from the Netherlands and built a life here through sheer determination and hard work. Growing up, I watched him put in long hours without complaint, always doing what needed to be done — not for recognition, but because that’s just who he was. He taught me that if you’re going to do something, you give it your best, and you finish what you start. That example shaped not just how I approach my work, but really how I approach life.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I wear a few hats that all tie together under one mission — helping people live with purpose, strength, and faith. I’m an entrepreneur, trainer and coach, and author.

Through my company KJ-Fitt, I coach clients in fitness and nutrition, helping them build healthier habits that last. It’s not just about workouts or meal plans — it’s about mindset, consistency, and discovering how strong you can really be when you stop standing in your own way. Watching people transform not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually, is what excites me most.

I also own Black Dog Productions, an events and trade show company where I get to blend creativity and connection. I love creating experiences that bring people together — especially women — to be inspired, refreshed, and reminded of their worth and purpose.

Another huge part of my story is my book, Outside God’s Umbrella, which became a #1 Amazon New Release. It’s a true story about my own journey. By sharing my story it has opened doors for me to speak, coach, and connect with others who need hope and redemption in their own chapters.

Right now, I’m focused on expanding my reach through speaking engagements, podcast appearances, and women’s events like “She Shines” — a one-day experience designed to empower and uplift women in mind, body, and spirit. Everything I do comes back to the same heartbeat: helping people find strength, healing, and purpose — both inside and out.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, the three qualities that have impacted my journey most are resilience, faith, and discipline.

Resilience taught me to rise after life knocked me down. Faith reminded me that even when I can’t see the whole path, God always can. And discipline — showing up on the days I didn’t feel like it — turned goals into reality.

For anyone just starting out, my advice is simple: stay grounded in your faith, be consistent even when progress feels slow, and remember that every setback is just part of your comeback.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?

Over the past 12 months, my biggest area of growth has been staying intentional and open. I’ve worked on not getting too comfortable, continuing to learn, and welcoming feedback and different perspectives — even when it’s challenging. Life’s adversities have reminded me that each obstacle can make me stronger.

I’ve also grown in the ability to say “no” to opportunities that are tempting but would pull me off focus, which has been a game-changer for my productivity and peace of mind. And, perhaps most importantly, my faith has grown significantly this year, giving me clarity, purpose, and confidence in every area of my life.
