Meet Kelly Lamb

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kelly Lamb. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kelly below.

Hi Kelly, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

I developed my confidence and self-esteem by proving that I “have what it takes.” This has looked like major failures, life changes, career pivots and priority shifts. It isn’t about always succeeding or being the best at things. It is about being willing to try. For me, this is more expansive than my career. It looks like being willing to try an aggressive hike, or triathlon, believing I could learn to play the cello and learn to surf.

Secondly, I believe that confidence comes after self-acceptance. I am who I am. I am me. Very little is going to change about me. Once you can accept who you are, confidence follows.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

My professional focus is running a creative agency called Clear & Loud. Our boutique creative team specializes in launching websites, products, and big ideas. We craft words that reach people and systems that sustain growth. I come alive in coaching people and helping them build a sustainable and profitable business. With this, I also love decision-making and strategizing.

I love communications. I have a podcast called, Bold. This podcast is for women who believe there is more than the script we’ve been handed. I talk to women who have made courageous decisions to pursue their passions, build communities, challenge norms, and who are ultimately living into being fully themselves.

People and connection are my number one priority. I also run a non-profit called Hello Yello. Our goal is to provide spaces and meet-ups that encourage spontaneous connection. I love building community and gathering people. I consult people on how to engage their audience and build a thriving community.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

1. Listening — I believe that listening is a lost art. Today we are obsessed with the consumption of short snippets on social media, and scroll when we get bored. It almost feels like we are communicating like this in real life. In relationships, business, and the communities I lead, listening is my main objective. It takes time and energy to stop talking, to not focus on what you want to say next and to hear what the other person is saying. To offer someone the gift of truly listening is so important. I believe that listening is a skill, and I have spent a lot of time practicing it. I would tell someone on their own journey to train to listen as they’d go to the gym. Get on a program and become very skilled and toned at listening.

2. Question-asking — I love asking questions and believe this is a very developed skill/quality. I have spent my career asking questions. It is one thing to come to the table with an answer, it is another skill entirely to figure out what question to ask to solve a problem or encourage deeper thinking. I believe that leading is all about question asking. This is also a muscle that needs to be exercised. The ability to ask questions comes from being curious. I am constantly asking, who, what, why, and how, in the environments around me. You should try it!

3. Focus — I believe this is one of my underlying qualities. I have the ability and skill to focus. This might look like focusing on a goal. Or focusing on the person in front of me. It is about being present with yourself and allowing this presence to impact others or the project you’re working on. Focus is the antidote to a frantic lifestyle.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

I am always looking to collaborate with others. I am always looking for skilled writers, designers, artists and developers on a professional context. I am looking for community activators to join the multiple communities I lead and host. I am always looking for Bold Guests.
