We recently connected with Kelly Lynch and have shared our conversation below.
Kelly, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I definitely get my work ethic from my mom, now that I think about it I don’t think I’ve ever actually seen her stop moving. She and my Step-dad run a charter company and they sail around the USVI’s and the BVI’s. Their boat is called the Purple Pelican because I know you’re going to ask. Mention that you read my interview and they might give you a discount on a charter.
As for me, I just don’t know how to stop. It’s all or nothing, and being stagnant literally makes me anxious.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My name is Kelly Lynch and I am an EDM artist and DJ. I’m most known for my themed events. Honestly, I’ve lost count of how many Taylor Swift nights I’ve DJ’d. Lately, I’ve been doing a lot of Chappell Roan themed nights, playing sets with my own music/ production, and more. It’s an absolute blast!
There’s nothing quite like DJing my own music during an EDM set, but let me tell you, there’s no energy that’s comparable to having 200 women scream the bridge to Taylor Swift’s “Cruel Summer” at the top of their lungs at me. It’s wild, and I strive to create spaces where everyone feels welcome. There’s just something so powerful about seeing a woman behind the decks—it’s disarming in the best way.
Lately, I’ve been keeping pretty busy with either throwing events or just being added to the lineup, and I’m thrilled to announce that my latest song, “High,” drops on all streaming platforms on June 28th! The best way I can describe it, is that it is the embodiment of summer.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1. Being open to all types of opportunities. Early on, I was stuck in this idea of what I should be doing or how I should look as a DJ. Spoiler alert: it was holding me back. Take the job, take the opportunity. Early on, they’re hard to come by, and the only way to grow is by putting yourself out there and taking whatever opportunity comes your way.
2. Drop your ego. This ties right in with being open. You’ll never learn or grow if you’ve got a bigger ego than Ye. I learned this the hard way while bartending. Thinking “I’m too good for that” is a surefire way to stay stuck. Plus, nobody likes working with someone who thinks they’re better than they are.
3. Networking is crucial. I can’t stress enough how important it is to connect with people in this industry. There have been countless times where I’ve wanted to pull my hair out, because I can’t get my foot in the door. Having a solid network saved me, and even though there were times I couldn’t get through the door, there is always another way in.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Always! I’m all about collaboration and getting everyone who’s excited involved. I pride myself on being able to DJ diverse events—whether it’s any style of EDM, themed parties, pool parties, bars, or nightclubs on Glenwood Ave., I’ve done it.
