Meet Kelly Sinning

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kelly Sinning. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kelly below.

Kelly, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

I love this questions, and it’s something I reflect on often! Honestly, I think I stumbled into my purpose by paying attention to the moments that made me feel most alive. In my work as a therapist, that’s been sitting with clients over the long haul and seeing the small steps add up to really big, lasting changes. There’s nothing quite like watching someone realize, “Oh wow, I really am stronger than I thought.” Those moments keep me going.

In my personal life, my purpose comes from trying to add value to the people closest to me—my friends, my husband, my parents, and my daughters. For me, that looks like being intentional about building deep, meaningful relationships. (It also sometimes looks like laughing with my husband about the fact that our kids are basically tiny, very demanding roommates who never pay rent.)

At the end of the day, my purpose is about connection—helping people grow, and making sure the people I love know just how much they matter to me.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I run a private therapy practice that specializes in maternal mental health, which means I get to support women through some of the most tender, challenging, and meaningful seasons of life—whether they’re trying to conceive, pregnant, or navigating the ups and downs of postpartum. I also collaborate with fertility doctors to provide therapeutic care to their patients, because I believe emotional well-being is just as important as medical support on that journey.

Outside of the therapy room, I’m passionate about creating resources for moms and moms-to-be. Right now, I’m developing a course that helps women prepare for the mental and emotional shifts of postpartum(be on the lookout for that in the coming months!)—because let’s be honest, the baby gear gets plenty of attention, but our mental health deserves a packing list, too. And I’ve also written a guided journal for new moms, designed to give them space to process, reflect, and care for themselves in those first months of motherhood.

At the heart of everything I do is the belief that moms matter—not just as caregivers, but as whole people who deserve support, compassion, and tools to thrive.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, the three most impactful things on my journey—both personally and professionally—were building the right support system, planning for my mental health, and allowing myself space to feel whatever came up.

My own path to parenthood wasn’t straightforward. I experienced pregnancy loss, a fallopian tube rupture, premature deliveries, and postpartum depression. Those challenges were incredibly difficult, but they also taught me that none of us is meant to go through motherhood alone. Having a strong support system—whether that’s family, friends, a partner, a therapist, or a trusted medical team—made all the difference.

I also learned the importance of planning for my mental health just like I would for any other part of the journey. We prepare nurseries and pack hospital bags, but we don’t often think about what our minds and hearts will need. Making space for therapy, rest, and honest conversations was crucial for me, and I encourage others to build that into their plan too.

Finally, I had to practice allowing myself to feel it all—the grief, the fear, the joy, and the hope. Motherhood brings out a full spectrum of emotions, and giving yourself permission to feel them without judgment is one of the most healing things you can do.

For anyone early in their journey, my advice is this: don’t underestimate the power of support, plan ahead for your mental well-being, and remember that whatever you feel is valid. You don’t have to do it perfectly—you just have to let yourself be human.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

Yes, I am always looking to collaborate with others in my field. I deeply believe that moms need — and deserve — a “village” of support, and when providers work together, we can create a much more holistic and effective experience for women who are struggling with maternal mental health.

I’m especially interested in partnering with professionals who support women and families during pregnancy, postpartum, and throughout motherhood — whether that’s other mental health providers, doulas, OBs, midwives, lactation consultants, or wellness practitioners. When we join forces, we can bridge gaps in care, reduce isolation, and ensure moms feel seen, supported, and truly cared for.

If you’re interested in collaborating, I’d love to connect. You can reach me directly at [email protected], through my website www.fulfillandflourishco.com or instagram at @kelly.the.counselor. Let’s work together to make maternal mental health care stronger, more accessible, and more connected.
