Meet Kelly Terwilliger

We recently connected with Kelly Terwilliger and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Kelly, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

Discovering my purpose became evident as I navigated through the complexities of early menopause, facing its unique set of challenges. It was in observing other women grappling with similar issues—such as unexplained weight gain, 3 am wake-ups, hot flashes, and anxiety—that I truly found my calling to be the voice for them and help guide along the way. Menopause is a phase of life that most people don’t talk about or their embarrassed to talk about. I love showcasing how powerful a women can be and to remind them that we are just getting started.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am a dedicated Integrative Health Practitioner, Certified Personal Trainer, and Macro Coach, all while being a proud mother to my amazing son.

My passion lies in transforming the lives of women, guiding them to become the ideal versions of themselves. Prior to my current role as an online personal trainer and coach, I gained valuable experience in both the aviation and fitness franchising industries. While I achieved success in those fields, my true fulfillment came from working directly with people, especially aiding them through the challenges of the menopausal transition.

My personal journey, marked by struggles with high blood pressure, fertility issues, a rare autoimmune disorder leading to early menopause, osteoporosis, and various food sensitivities, necessitated a profound focus on nutrition. Despite these challenges, I refuse to let labels define me. Instead, each day is a step towards healing, and I’m proud to say that many of those once defining labels no longer hold true.

My mission is clear and straightforward: we refuse to let labels dictate our identity. Together, we establish achievable fitness and nutritional goals, empowering you to emerge from menopause physically and mentally stronger than ever before. By addressing the root causes of symptoms through proper diet and exercise, we embark on a journey to redefine well-being. My goal is to guide women in shifting their mindset, allowing them to feel the positive impact of fitness and healthy choices. Strong, confident, and transformed – that’s the destination we aim to reach together.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three pivotal aspects of knowledge that have profoundly influenced my menopausal journey include:

1. Enlisting the expertise of a practitioner well-versed in the intricacies of menopause.

2. Acquiring insights into nourishing my body and identifying nutritional deficiencies.

3. Grasping the effective utilization of exercise as a means to positively impact my hormonal balance.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
My ideal client in the midst of the menopausal journey is an individual who has explored various avenues to shed excess weight without success. Despite reassurances about normal bloodwork results, she is grappling with the belief that weight gain is an inevitable part of aging. Despite attempting multiple weight-loss strategies, the challenge persists, often resulting in regained weight. Sleep disturbances, particularly the inability to sleep through the night, and escalating anxiety further intensify the symptoms.
